By the way, if it happens, 9W having to codeshare on an EY flight operated on 9W metal will be hilarious.
And it's already done, with AF having to codeshare on an EY flight operated by AF, instead of selling the seats as their own flights. Before that, AF attempted AUH on their own and AFailed. _________________ four years free of jetya punti! |

Just about using assets appropriately. In that process let 9W operate JFK in the process giving 9W their 4% share of the deal and let that 9W tail be seen in USA. |

How about this - tails in New York, certainly. And, customer-facing, there doesn't have to be too big a difference (though there could be a couple of EY crew + EY soft product like the AF metal flights).
But, behind the scenes, there could be a difference between 9W 266 (own flight) and 9W 6666 (codeshare, even if on own metal, like the AF example above). _________________ four years free of jetya punti! |

So I went on a little outing earlier and guess what I spied with my big wide eyes? The single most important aspect of the Jet inflight experience, what is singly responsible for maximum revenue:

Can one get JetPrivilege miles for shopping there?

I'm not sure; I didn't see a sign.
Unlike other places, where it's pretty clear (photo courtesy mad bawa):
But if they were to give JetPoints for shopping at Rosenthal, 100 per bowl seems about right. Because Rosenthal may be third grade, but it's certainly of a better quality than a JetFlight.
Witness the 100 points from a Rosenbowl vs what a JetFright will get you:

Some of their larger crystal bowls are actually priced at upwards of USD 500 each. So that should be many more JetMiles than a BOM-BDQ flight.
Maybe 9W should partner with them after all. One more JetPartner shouldn't matter anyway. _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

But if you could earn the points by simply paying for the china, then think of the impact on the airline! They would jeopardise the drawing power of their single greatest attraction : the crockery! It's the apple of the JetEye, and the first thing mentioned in their inflight experience listing.
So if you really think about it, there is a real, sound method in what seems at first to be madness. Need more proof? The Konnect/Lite flight fetched more points than the mainline flight on the same sector. That's deliberate too, because they want everyone to actively choose Konnect flights. The HiCost-LoFare model is the future and soon everyone's going to follow, just you watch. _________________ four years free of jetya punti! |

Two 9W A332 have become active with Etihad : VT-JWF as A6-AGA, and VT-JWG as A6-AGB.
To the best of my knowledge, this is the 9W A332 leasing saga thus far :
VT-JWD -> To Etihad as A6-EYY -> To Air Seychelles as A6-EYY
VT-JWE -> To Etihad as A6-EYZ -> To Air Seychelles as A6-EYZ
VT-JWJ -> To Etihad as A6-EYC
VT-JWK -> To Etihad as A6-EYA
VT-JWM -> To Etihad as A6-EYB
VT-JWF -> To Etihad as A6-AGA
VT-JWG -> To Etihad as A6-AGB _________________ 11000 posts (and counting) on Airliners-India.

Wow.
Tell me again what they ordered the 333s for (in what was described as a brilliant move)?
How many do they own? How many do they operate (for themselves)? How many do they actually need? _________________ four years free of jetya punti! |

9W owns zero A333s. They operate 4 (all for themselves), leased from GECAS; as VT-JWR, VT-JWS, VT-JWT, VT-JWU.

Sumantra - here's another rhyme that you're going to re-teach your son the words to:
Jetty, Jetty you just can't stop
Your routes keep going flop flop flop
Your loss goes up and market share goes down
But giddy up, coz you're Dhabi bound
Fail in India, Dhabi bound _________________ four years free of jetya punti! |

We expected capital infusion from Etihad into Jet allowing them to at least fly their existing routes - appears the sole objective is to increase Abu Dhabi/ME connectivity from different Indian airports at the cost of reduction in domestic flights - understand the latest directive from Etihad proposes reduction in flights in domestic sector including metro sectors.
The likely fallout - some more stations may be closed down and one may look at job losses in near future. |

Well, everyone but Jet thought EY were going to have over free money, out of the goodness of their hearts, and expect no say or accountability in return. It was going to basically be like taking halwa from a baby-sheik.
The rest of the world, however, recognised reality when they saw it. That we would have a Fibga on our hands. And we do. And it's turning out to be an even bigger failure than even I had imagined, only good for flying the Dhabi Shuttle.

ETIHAD GETS CCI NOD FOR 50.1% STAKE BUY IN JET LOYALTY UNIT
Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways today got Competition Commission's approval for purchase of 50.1 per cent stake in Jet Privilege Private Ltd (JPPL), a customer loyalty programme unit of Jet Airways .
Clearing the transaction by majority, CCI said that the deal was unlikely to have any adverse impact on market competition, as Etihad's purchase of 24 per cent stake in Naresh Goyal-led Jet Airways has already been approved and the two carriers were already partners in their respective frequent flyer programmes.
Under such customer loyalty programmes, airlines generally offer certain benefits to their frequent flyers.
Dissenting with this majority order, passed by CCI chairman Ashok Chawla and four members, one member Anurag Goel however said that the proposed deal was "likely to raise appreciable adverse effect on competition in the international air passenger transportation market, more particularly in those routes between India and Abu Dhabi".
"A notice may, therefore, be issued to show cause to the parties to the combination calling upon them to respond within thirty days of the receipt of the notice, as to why investigation in respect of the proposed combination should not be conducted," his minority order said. Incidentally, Goel had also dissented with the clearance given to Etihad's purchase of 24 per cent stake in Jet through a majority order, which was passed by CCI in November 2013.
However, the acquisition faced numerous regulatory roadblocks and one petition against this deal is still before the Supreme Court, while markets regulator Sebi also began having a fresh look at the deal after certain observations were made by CCI with regard to the level of control and rights being granted to Etihad.
CCI also imposed a fine of Rs one crore on Etihad in December 2013 for non-disclosure of certain information on time, although this penalty has no impact on its approval.
Irrespective of these developments, in its majority order passed today, CCI said, "Considering that Jet and Etihad are already frequent flyer partners and the Commission had approved their earlier combination... Etihad's acquisition of 50.1 percent stake in JPPL is not likely to raise any appreciable adverse effect on competition."
Under this deal, Etihad will acquire 50.1 per cent stake in JPPL subsequent to the hiving off of Jet's loyalty business into the subsidiary on a going concern basis. However, valuation of this deal has not been disclosed.
Jet and JPPL have entered into a 'Slump Sale Agreement' and 'Commercial Agreement' on November 19, 2013 for the purpose of hiving-off the airline's loyalty business into JPPL and to establish a commercial relationship between them.
CCI was approached for its clearance by Jet and Etihad for this frequent flyer business deal on December 18, 2013.
CCI asked them on December 24 to remove certain defects and provide additional information by January 2, 2014.
After seeking extension of time, Etihad filed its response on January 13, 2014, CCI said. Jet Airways stock price On February 05, 0, Jet Airways closed at Rs 211.35, down Rs 5.1, or 2.36 percent. The 52-week high of the share was Rs 688.60 and the 52-week low was Rs 210.25.
The latest book value of the company is Rs -27.75 per share. At current value, the price-to-book value of the company was -7.62. _________________ |

Actually it's 406 crore.
Because Failga decided not to "incorporate engine maintenance costs in its quarterly income statement".
Dear oh dear oh dear. That too in Q3. No doubt bolstered by a few sales and leases tucked away as "operational income".
So it's a drop of 499 crore from last Q3. Oh dear.

yep, pretty pathetic.
the 2 (small) positives, debt reduced by almost Rs 1400 crores, and in that figure, almost 100 crores were lost due to grounded 330s, most likely to be sent out to TK by end of this QTR. _________________ Causal Determinism : We are hardwired to need answers. Jet Airways cabin crew most harassed by flyers
Jet Airways recorded 84 incidents of passengers behaving indecently with airhostesses, while Indigo recorded 48, the Civil Aviation Ministry said in reply to a query in the Lok Sabha this month. The national carrier recorded a considerably lower number 19 incidents. Private carrier Spicejet, which began operations in 2005 has recorded six such incidents. _________________ 11000 posts (and counting) on Airliners-India.
