More significantly this partnership enhances international travel experiences of customers from several metro and non metro cities providing global connectivity.

The expansion of the codeshare partnership also enhances the position of Jet Airways’ hub in Mumbai and Delhi with convenient mid-point option for traffic flowing between the Gulf, Middle East, Europe, America and Asia

The new code share flights are available for sale with immediate effect.

Guests traveling from India can also seamlessly connect onto Jet Airways codeshare flights on the Etihad network via Abu Dhabi to European destinations including, Amsterdam, Brussels, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Geneva, Manchester, Munich, Paris, Dublin and Milan.

The codeshare also covers North American destinations such as Chicago, New York (JFK) and Washington as well as Johannesburg and Nairobi on the African continent and Brisbane in Australia via Singapore.

As per the expanded reciprocal agreement, Jet Airways places its marketing code (9W) on flights operated by Etihad Airways, between Abu Dhabi and key destinations across India such as Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calicut, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kochi and Trivandrum.

Similarly, Etihad Airways places its marketing code (EY) on Jet Airways’ flights operated between Abu Dhabi and key destinations in India such as Mumbai, Delhi, Cochin, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai offering guests a wider choice of frequency to and from India. The codeshare also enables Etihad guests to access Far East Asian destinations on Jet Airways operated flights between Mumbai, Delhi Chennai and Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok.

Jet Airways may lease three planes to Etihad Airways

Jet Airways is likely to lease three of its Boeing 777-300 ERs to its equity partner Etihad Airways after they return from Turkish Airlines later this year, according to sources.

Jet was earlier planning to induct these wide-bodied planes, which are on lease with Turkish Airlines and will be coming back by October this year on completion of the lease period.

However after Etihad’s proposal, it shelved the plan, they said. “Jet Airways wanted these three Boeing planes to be put on its international network. However, Etihad requested Jet to lease out these planes to them as it wants them to deploy for its overseas network, which is under consideration,” a source said.

Aircraft in question are :

VT-JEA -> To Thai as HS-TKG -> To Jet as VT-JEN -> To Turkish as VT-JEN
VT-JEB -> To Thai as HS-TKH -> To Jet as VT-JEP -> To Turkish as VT-JEP

ETIHAD to Start Codesharing on Jet Airways’ Domestic India Service from June 2014

ETIHAD starting Wednesday (04JUN14) will begin codesharing on Jet Airways’ Domestic India routes, which sees EY code being placed on 29 routes operated by Jet, as per 03JUN14 GDS timetable listing. Additional codeshare routes is likely to be added in the future.

9W operated additional flights on BOM-HKG on the 30th of May and the 1st of June, with the following schedule,

BOM HKG 9W 182 0940 1810
HKG BOM 9W 181 1955 2345

VT-JFS (737) operated both flights.

I couldn't find this flight on sale for any other date.

333s are undergoing maintenance and a 777 is grounded at BRU due to technical snag

The 737 was used to operate extra service as 9W had over booked flights assuming 777 capacity for the HKG sector which are now being done by the 332 fleet owing to shortage of aircraft

So extra flights were operated on a brand new but IFE less 737

Two more senior executives quit Jet Airways

Jet Airways chief strategy and planning officer Abdulrahman Albusaidy and its head of cargo Mohammad Ali El Ariss have quit the airline.

This makes it the seventh top level exit in a year since Etihad picked up 24% stake and comes in the wake of its worst ever quarter which saw airline reporting Rs 2465 crore loss.

Jet Airways and Etihad Airways reportedly plan to stop providing discounts for children aged between 2 and 11 on services from Abu Dhabi to India, with the child fare to now cost the same as a regular fare (The Hindu Business Line, 22-Jun-2014). Jet Airways said: “Effective June 16, Jet Airways has discontinued the child discount of 25 per cent from Abu Dhabi/Dubai to India. From Dubai there is no child discount since February1. This is due to the prevailing market practice.” The child discount programme remains unchanged on other international routes, the carrier said. Etihad Airways similar said: “Etihad Airways and Jet Airways now offer 168 non-stop flights each week between Abu Dhabi and 10 destinations in India, with the network set to expand further. The fare strategy we have enables us to be highly competitive in the market, offering air travellers incredible value and flexibility on all our flights to India.”

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has been honoured at TreasuryToday Magazine’s Adam Smith Awards 2014 for successfully implementing an innovative sales and leaseback (SLB) transaction worth US$70 million with Jet Airways.

The prestigious awards, which are the largest corporate treasury awards program globally, take place each year to celebrate innovation and best practice, with winners for 2014 announced at a gala reception in London today, attended by more than 200 treasury and finance professionals.

Etihad Airways was named winner of the Judge’s Choice award for providing a unique asset-backed lending solution to Jet Airways last year, which unlocked liquidity from the Indian airline’s three pairs of take-off and landing slots at London Heathrow airport. Jet Airways continues to utilise the slots on its passenger services between the UK capital and India.

Ricky Thirion, Etihad Airways Group Treasurer, said: “We are honoured to receive the Judge’s Choice award for last year’s sale and leaseback solution with Jet Airways, which was truly unique and innovative for both the aviation and treasury markets.

“Etihad Airways and Jet Airways are commercial partners and the agreement was beneficial to both, as no bank or third party debt was sourced and risks were mitigated due to our unique ability, as both airline partner and lender, to unlock the value of London Heathrow take-off and landing slots as security, which would not have been valuable to traditional lenders.”

Jet Airways has appointed aviation industry veteran Subodh Karnik as its chief operating officer. Karnik will oversee commercial and sales functions of the airline. He takes over from Hameed Ali, who will join the airline's board. Jet Airways' chairman Naresh Goyal's wife Anita, too, will join the board.

Karnik has worked in senior roles in marketing, strategic planning and finance departments of North West, Continental and Delta Airlines and was president and CEO of Global Aero Logistics, the largest provider of private air charter service to US military. Before joining Jet Airways, Karnik worked as a vice-president with consultancy firm ICF International.

A Jet Airways spokesperson was not immediately available for comment. An airline source said Karnik had been designated as COO and his appointment would be subject to home ministry's clearance. In May, the airline had appointed Cramer Ball, a former Etihad Airways executive, as CEO.

Jet Airways expands codeshare pact with Italian carrier Alitalia

Jet Airways today said it has expanded its codeshare pact with Italian airline Alitalia, which offers passengers of the two carriers enhanced network connectivity across cities of the two countries.

The new code-share flights are on sale from July 1, for travel starting from July 5, Jet Airways said in a release.

Codeshare is a commercial agreement between two or more airlines that share the same flight, with all partners able to sell seats on that flight.

As part of the expanded codeshare agreement, while the Jet Airways passengers will get seamless connectivity to Italy from Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi, Amritsar, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Udaipur, the Alitalia passenger can fly directly to India from Rome, Venice, Naples, Turin, Florench, Verona and Bologna, the release said.

"Thanks to the expanded codeshare agreement, we are able to offer our guests a wider access, unmatched connectivity and seamless travel to Italy's top destinations. The agreement with Alitalia is a further step in Jet Airways' strategy of growing on the global marketplace," Jet Airways Senior Vice President (Commercial) Gaurang Shetty said in the release.

Alitalia too said that its enhanced codeshare agreement with Jet Airways will certainly strengthen its role in the development of traffic flows between Italy and India.

"We look forward to expanding the codeshare agreement with Jet Airways, which is, for Alitalia, an important partner for reaching India," Alitalia's Business Deputy General Director Giancarlo Schisano said.

Following the partnership, Jet Airways will place its marketing code on the Alitalia operated flights between Abu Dhabi and Rome and beyond to Bologna, Florence, Naples, Turin, Venice and Verona in Italy.

Similarly, Alitalia will place its code on Jet Airways flights operated between Abu Dhabi and Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi. Alitalia will also place its code on Jet Airways' flights beyond Mumbai and Delhi to Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Udaipur, Jet Airways said.
