The next of 6E birds will be VT-IA series

The next is VT-IAL. I wonder why not IAA and so on

6E is launching non stop flights on DEL-DIB, another first in the country

HYD-DEL DIB GAU DEL HYD is the rotation

Poorly utilized plane so to say and hedging DIB non stop with a GAU halt, so that's a one way DIB GAU conxn

I know they're an LCC, but why don't 6E start a basic FF program of some sort? The potential for that in the domestic skies is quite a lot.

Cant say I blame Indigo for objecting. The FDI was originally designed to aid existing struggling airlines. The new carriers will increase the already intense competition, without offering any new routes.

The first victim due to the entry of AirAsia and Tata Airline will be Spicejet.

You know the saying- it's in a company's interest to get rid of competition unless its among their suppliers.

I don't blame 6E for objecting, any firm would complain about competition (but it doesn't mean they're right) .... it's the government job to ensure competition.

Really Indigo objects to FDI but not EK getting even more seats??? Tata SQ is soooo needed in indian aviation. India cannot afford to have these operators that can't manage airlines. Indigo should be more focused on their own issues. Is someone paying the indian airlines to just fight with each other so that none can grow? What's next the AI piolts union saying we welcome more seats for EK and control of 9W by EY but we sternly object to Tata SQ and we recommend they be forbidden from flying international for 10 years and the year before they can fly lets give all ME airlines more seats. Indian aviation is the joke that will never end.

Jet probably wanted to protest too, but couldn't because they just suitcased themselves a plethora of additional frequencies to fly the Dhabi Shuttle.

True. Besides, we all know Lalaji likes to travel Emirates; therefore reducing all possibilities of his objection.

Indian airliner catches fire in Nepal; no casualties

8 March 2014

The wheels of the Airbus 320 operated by Indigo caught fire while landing and passengers were quickly evacuated through emergency doors.

An Indian airliner with 170 people on board has caught fire while landing in Nepal’s capital, but there were no casualties reported.

Tribhuwan International Airport in Katmandu says the wheels of the Airbus 320 operated by budget airline Indigo caught fire while landing on Saturday and passengers were quickly evacuated through emergency doors. The fire was brought under control.

Aviation officials are investigating the incident.

Next time, our media will report a "major" tragedy averted if someone onboard an airplane farts and others cover their noses.

Thanks. While making a 6E booking (no pun intended) for BOM-BLR on goibibo.com it says "Depart: Mumbai, India - Chhatrapati Shivaji International (BOM)". I am guessing they mean (what was known as) Sahar, so that's a little weird.

I guess staying on the other side of the world for so long has its effects (and yet, you manage to tell us more about Indian aviation than many of us actually know, or pick up!). It is just a matter of convention: BOM is called the CSIA, and has 2.5 terminals: T1A (AI), T1B (the rest), T1C (shared): all domestic: Santa Cruz; and T2 (International). You will get 6E at T1B, if you are lucky, you may get a gate in the impressive T1C, which allows me to indulge in two of my passions, plane-watching (it is a spotter's delight), and of course...food. Similarly, DEL is IGIA with T1D (domestic LCC terminal: departures), T1C (sometimes not known by this name, but as T1D itself: domestic LCC terminal: arrivals), and T3 (International: full-serivce+LCC).
Cheers, Sumantra.

That is actually correct. The whole airport is Chhatrapati. The domestic terminals (1 ABC) are in Santa Cruz and the international ones (2X) are in Sahar.

So your flight departs from Chhatrapati Airport, Terminal 1B.

But it is one airport, just with terminals so far apart it can take longer to get from one to the other than it would take to fly BOM-BLR.

Indigo launches direct BLR-BBI: 6E491 and 492 from April 5.. There was no direct flight between BLR and BBI after Jet withdrew. Only options were 6E via HYD or AI via BOM..

The flight to be launched is on a triangular route, BLR-BBI-VTZ-BLR (3 or 4 days a week) or BLR-VTZ-BBI-BLR (remaining days of the week).

BLR-VTZ already has 3 daily nonstops, this will be the 4th.

Or me after I realize its been 8.5 months since a cancellation request made to Cathay Pacific has still not been granted, so no refund received for a no show. Oh and lets not forget my reaction when they would hang up on me because I was annoying them due to the same reason.
No wonder they had to show off 204% profits. Smile

Yes, Jishnu: some work-related pressures (shocking for a lazy semi-Govt organisation employee), I will get back on that soon. I am way behind schedule. The upcoming one is a Jun'13 trip to Sangli.

Indigo to add six new flights

March 29, 2014

Gurgaon-based no-frills carrier Indigo today said it will add six new flights, connecting as many destinations, in its network from tomorrow as part of its domestic route expansion plans.

The new services will be operated from Delhi, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Vizag, Ranchi, and Kolkata, IndiGo said in a release here.

While the Bengaluru-Bhubaneswar and Vizag flights will be launched tomorrow, the remaining services will be operational from April 6, the airline said.

IndiGo hikes preferred seating, baggage charges

Quote:
Low-cost airline IndiGo, India’s biggest domestic carrier by passengers flown, has increased charges for passengers wanting preferential seating and carrying extra baggage as airlines head for the peak summer travel season.

The airline, run by InterGlobe Aviation Pvt. Ltd, which was charging passengers a premium of Rs.500 for sitting in rows one, two, 12 and 13 on domestic flights, will increase that to Rs.600 per passenger, it said on its website.

The seats are called premium because they offer more leg room on IndiGo’s all-economy seating configuration.

IndiGo, which allows 15kg of free baggage, will now charge Rs.750 for the next 5kg, up from Rs.500 earlier. Passengers will be allowed to carry 15kg of extra baggage over and above the free 15kg in return for paying Rs.2,000 and 30kg for Rs.3,000.

Indigo's mobile app is sheer torture!! First the app kept crashing. Tried checking in online - forces you to select a seat even if you have already selected it while purchase. Keeps giving session time out and finally said check in unsuccessful.

Great news for Srilankan Aviation, also considering SriLankan Airlines Engg managed to win the contract against old players - AI Engg, Air Works India and latest kid on the block -> MAS-GMR. This will do a whole lot good in rejuvenating Srilankan Aviation scenario.
