Do these Saudi flights connect with any bank for SG [Q400s or 737s]

Karan

I really doubt that SG has a bank of flights arriving at 3AM into DEL.

Regardless, international-domestic connections require a terminal switch, which is a major hassle. SG is going after O&D here...

This was anyway expected. Think no other airline tinkers their schedules as freqeuntly as SG.

Yes, since IT is not flying, SG is the leader in schedule tinkering !

It appears that SG does not care about connecting traffic with a departure of 3:45 am to Riyadh. Even if it can, SG does not have through baggage checkin, except for some advertised sectors.

VT-SGU has been grounded following an incident yesterday at Delhi airport. The section near the left winglet hit the electric pole while taxing and has been ruptured

There were passengers inside the plane

Appears to be the latter.

The airline and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation are still not sure what led the pilot to digress from his well marked path and stray about 8 metres towards the floodlight.

"As the aircraft headed to the taxiway, the pilot seems to have turned before the actual turning. The right wing struck against an apron floodlight.

So, what about routine maintenance? Will this be done at the IX hangars here in Kochi?

Hmm - so sounds like there might be an additional hop after reaching COK at 15:45? Or is that the end of the day for this a/c?

Routine mx can be scheduled by rerouting an aircraft to their mx base when needed.

Nimish - I think 1720 is the dep to DXB right or did I get it wrong here ?

so 1545 arr would turn around as 1720 to DXB

a/c can be swapped at MAA or GOI

Which possible destination can you go to with just an hour and a half?

Another question for everyone, the COK-GOI flight starts on the 20th.
Meanwhile the DXB flight started today, so what would be the turnaround for the next 10 days?

Its not like it has to have a daily turnaround somewhere, remember 9W use to park its plane in TRV for the entire day..no daily turnaround somewhere

Oops - sorry - did not know that. I assumed the "rotation" you listed started with the first flight post midnight Embarassed.

Its a 1710 dep

So that much time is definitely required for a domestic to international turnaround

What is the logic in using a 738 on this route when HYD and MAA are done with Q's.
Is it just using the a/c rather tan keeping it idle at COK

To increase utilisation times, which would have meant the aircraft remains idle at COK.

It could also be the fact that SG has a monopoly on this route while HYD/MAA has other airlines too.

The monopoly logic doesnt apply, because its not such a route that it would generate a lot of traffic.

Its like G8 doing NDC-BOM, monopoly route, but then it would stil lose money

Yes, but.. there must be some logic in starting a flight with just 10 days notice.
The main reason this route could work out is tourism, I too wonder how it would work as there aren't a lot of tourists out to GOI.

Well SG has no logic. All their routes, including international start with 10-12 days notice.

Except for CAN !!

SG is the only airline operating on HYD-GOI now though 9W and IT were operating earlier and all 3 flights used to go alomst full those days. 9W stopped some 2-3 months back for reasons best known to them.
As regards MAA, 9W has a 1 stop via BLR and AI on 3or 4 times a week and proceeding onward to some Gulf destination.

SpiceJet have added a new Q400 to the fleet today, as VT-SUP.

Here she is at Bournemouth today, on her way home.

Should be temporary owing to one aircraft being grounded ?

BOM-CCJ / BLR - CCJ = closure of CCJ ?

The first AMD-DXB flight was operated by VT-SGV, loads of 170/189.
