Dont think SG has a specific plan for their Q's.

In all probabilities they would drop IXU altogeather then !
DEL-IXU is not as lucrative as well.
The LF has been lower than 70% across the year and now they have AI + 9W already on the route

I have said this before and I repeat, SG is not able to sustain itself with Qs

How are the other routes with Q's doing. Lot of tampeing with the timings of IXE as well.
Looking at their schedules, they are dumping a lot of capacity at MAA.

That generally happens with group HQ place.
On the other hand, they are losing their place in market owing to these tactis of changing the flight timings every now and then

Their web schedule is not updated as well

They never update their schedules. Even 6E does not do them regularly. AI does not publish schedules. Only 9W, for a change, is upto date in this regard.

Even the existing carriers are having a hard time with the flight utilization, it is a good thing that KF is gone and it is going to be very difficult for new entrants to make any money.

Are there any flights on MAA-BBI sector, I thought 6E operates a flight on this.

AI's timetable on its website is always up to date in my experience.

Except SG does not allow selection of front row or exit row seats.

6E has a daily 1 stop service via VTZ. AI also has a similar service which is withdrawn now.

What about the BLR-IXE which was launched recently with a 738. And is the MAA-IXE direct gone ???

The Q which was doing the 720 flight to IXU should have been sent to MAA.
Any other stoppages from HYD.

Yes, the aircraft now does DEL STV BOM ATQSXR/IXCSXR and v.v

Look at the number of times they changed the routing of that plane !

Rather than experimentig in virgin routes, why not they put their capacity on proven routes like HYD-BLR- where 6E is making a killing or HYD-PUNE where there is potential for 2 more daily services by Q's though getting slots may be a problem.

I flew HYD-PNQ twice a week (Monday/Friday) for a few months early this year. I flew mostly AI, but occasionally 9W and 6E as well. There was never a full flight, and I never paid more than $50...

Adding more capacity is a recipe for disaster.

The traffic rights have been allocated to Indian carriers on the following routes for the first time:

Spicejet:

Lucknow- Al Najaf (Iraq); Varanasi- Al Najaf (Iraq); Delhi-Macau; Delhi-Ho Chi Minh City

SG has reduced BLR-CJB to 4pw.

On a other note. SG does very well in flying to Tuticorin. Flights often report 90% loads

Were they playing a game of dart before applying for these routes or was it a lucky draw by the ministry in awarding routes ?

Also the PIB release states that SG has been alloted 230 services / week, ahead of IndiGos 172 s/w , a year down the line.

Again shows the realistic growth plans of IndiGo over SpiceJet

^^

Most Indian carriers except 6E look and act like a headless chicken!

LKO/VNS - NJF is purely religious and price conscious traffic that occurs seasonally..
DEL-MFM/SGN were things created when SG smokes a lot of s***... Rolling Eyes

VNS - NJF is what ? A connection of two holy cities ?

^^ IDK, I'm trying to make sense of the route allocations. This thing should be scrapped entirely, if they want Indian carriers to expand their side of the rights.

Lucknow/Benares to Al-Najaf??????? Seriously!!!!!!

Wonder which village idiot at the MoCA came up with that.

The only airport in India with any traffic to Iraq is BOM.

Najaf is the third holiest city for Shiite Muslims. There is considerable religious tourists travelling between India and Iraq, even during troubled times and has been on the increase lately.

I think a non-daily flight from a city like LKO with substantial Shiite population makes perfect sense.

An article in BBC on the rise of Najaf as a religious tourism destination

There are many more Shiites in BOM and HYD than in Lucknow, but still no flight to Najaf from these places.

The chaps at MoCA have been having too many pre Diwali drinks, that's it.

SpiceJet ability to operate on going concern basis dependent on profitable operations, raising cash

13-Nov-2012 11:27 AM

SpiceJet stated (12-Nov-2012) accumulated losses at the carrier have fully eroded the net worth of the company as of 30-Sep-2012. The company's ability to operate on a "going concern" basis is "significantly" dependent on establishing continued profitable operations and raising cash to meet short- and long-term obligations, the auditors said. During the three months ended 30-Sep-2012, the carrier reduced losses by 32%, benefiting from large capacity cuts by Kingfisher Airlines. However, SpiceJet CEO noted, "Fuel costs and a weakened INR continue to be a cause of worry for the aviation sector".

Also, I guess these are the kind of "first time route" allotments. There could have been vanilla routes allocated too.

Okay, apparently, according to Gujju newspapers and the members at WWWAS (We Want a Working Airport At Surat). SG may commence a BLR-PNQ-STV-JAI-CCU.

More details awaited. Mostly rumors.

WWWAS hahahahahahhahaha

and these idiots believe that SG will just simply oblige?

You want airlines, give them freggin subsidies to start certin routes. Tax on ATF in Guj is 30%. Thats beyond insane.

I had a chat with a route analysis chap in SG - while wishing Diwali

Certain things were pretty clear in his talk

They managed to close NDC and few other stations silently, without much press coverage

STV is doing bad on the STV-BOM-STV legs, hardly any traffic.
So they tried feeding it southwards with flights to TRV/IXE and so on, which also dint help, so they went for their own profitable routing to ATQ/IXC
Currently they are stuck with STV

- As for the other input about PNQ STV, I doubt !
Earlier the flight was BLR PNQ AMD JAI CCU which from 29th oct is BLR PNQ JAI. I doubt if there is any traffic between STV and JAI ! and STV and PNQ !

I think these are all E-170/190 routes, long enough to get out of Q400s way and thin enough to have a less than 100 seater plane

STV has fantastic rail connection to Rajasthan, Delhi and the east. Most people prefer the train to Rajasthan from STV as its an overnight journey to most cities in Rajasthan. Likewise, for Delhi.

I doubt therE is any major operational cost difference between the e170s and Q400s ,As long as the flights are within 2 hours there is no realistic benefit,

What benefit do you see the E jets have over the Qs ?

having recently flown on one , the window seat on SG's Q400 is quite uncomfortable the aisle seat however is nice

I think these are all E-170/190 routes, long enough to get out of Q400s way and thin enough to have a less than 100 seater plane

Exactly, the point that I am trying to make is
Q400 / Ejets - less than 2.5hrs - similar operating cost / time / enhanced comfort on Ejets

>2.5hrs Qs cant go and you cant deploy the B737s, because the routes are thin, so Ejets are better than Qs

STV is doing bad on the STV-BOM-STV legs, hardly any traffic.
So they tried feeding it southwards with flights to TRV/IXE and so on, which also dint help, so they went for their own profitable routing to ATQ/IXC
Currently they are stuck with STV

Is SG using the 737 on STV-BOM or is it the Q400?
