For many this is the problem with Jet, not enough upgrades even on domestic sectors, even there are seats up front.

Really?

Allegedly I am the only one interested in redeeming points for upgrades or being able to use those upgrade vouchers.

Everyone else, one would think, is perfectly happy using points to fly in economy, even if a paid ticket was going for Rs 2,000.

At least that's what Jet Airways claims.

Nope, very high fuel prices, and a few non performing routes.

And... QED.

That is a very definitive statement to make. Based on what exactly? Intimate knowledge of the performance of each of Jet's flights? I think not.

All it takes is a bit of common sense really, once all the sarcasm clears out, you'll see it yourself too.

I don't get this either - I would never ever use my miles for an economy award ever Smile Either get a J award or use them to upgrade a Y ticket on long haul. Are the 9W upgrade instruments (vouchers or whatever they call them) good for upgrade on long haul or just domestic?

In theory, they're good on all routes.

In reality, well...

Jet Airways eyes more internatioanl routes; expediates hiring of pilots

12 Apr, 2012

India's largest carrier by market share, Jet Airways is looking at expanding its international operations in a big way. The airline wants to start flying on the Manila & Kuala Lumpur routes a part form increasing flights to Europe & Gulf countries according to two sources familiar with the details.

In line with this strategy, the airline is also on a pilot hiring spree. The airline has hired nearly 20 pilots in the last few weeks and is still in the process of hiring more. It will also be aircraft fleet once these approvals come through.

'The airline will induct 10 to 12 aircraft once the ministry gives them approvals' said a source who did not want to be named.

International operations contribute nearly 60% to Jet Airways' revenues. With the civil aviation ministry ending Air India's monopoly over bilateral traffic rights, allowing all Indian carriers to utilize these, Jet Airways has also sought government permission to expand its international services to 518 flights per week from 370 at present by winter of 2012.

'Jet Airways continually assesses and employs sufficient number of cockpit crew to enable optimal utilization of its fleet' Jet Airway's spokesperson told ET NOW in an email response.

^^ And at the same time 9W pilots are opposing hiring of IT pilots - the 332 staff amongst them should be very welcome at 9W, but the existing 9W pilots are not supporting hiring of IT pilots...

Getting a/c and pilots should be super easy for 9W what with the collapse of IT.

Yep, its the evening run. But's its happening from the 23rd of April, not the 18th.

Typical for 9W.

You may be able to redeem on 9W's partner network instead.

9W is making BOM-Dehradun a one stop flight via delhi on 737 by tweaking some schedules.
Schedule is
9W 307 BOM 11:15 DED 14:40
9W 334 DED 15:10 BOM 18:30
Flights via DEL both ways. DEL-DED stays at 2 daily (1 ATR, 1 737)

Definitely recommended.

Redeeming JetPunishment points on a partner will mean you will likely get availability, on a definitely better airline for possibly much less cash.

So poetic, it brings tears !

So two emails from Jet in the last few hours.

1. Special Summer Fares

Do they realise it's mid-April already?

Idiots.

2. Just in case anyone was still under any illusion that there was any benefit to any of Jet's loyalty products:

Dear Stupid Fool who still flies with us,

As you are aware, we recently consolidated our low fares service offering, namely JetLite and Jet Airways Konnect to now operate under a single brand name and airline, JetKonnect.

As a Jet Airways Citibank Credit Card holder, you are entitled to special privileges when flying aboard Jet Airways and JetKonnect.

This intimation is in reference to the excess baggage allowance you enjoy while flying with us within India - as a Jet Airways Citibank Credit Card holder. Please note, this benefit is available ONLY on Jet Airways full-service flights, and not on JetKonnect.

For more information on the benefits and privileges applicable, please visit jetairways.com.

Yours sincerely,
For Jet Airways (India) Ltd.

Kaushal Satam
Head - JetPrivilege

Even better: I cancelled my Citi Jet card a while ago.

Idiots.

They've only sent the e-mail today. But these rules have been implemented a couple of weeks ago.

I had to pay INR 3000 of for excess baggage on a 9W Konnect flight from Bom to Ixu a few days ago. It was imporant stuff and had to be taken.

The ticket itself was only about INR 3000. How wonderful!

This airline is really taking the biscuit now!
Is it our problem if you are making most of your flights Effin Konnect or whatever that crap is called.

Which means the 737 is going to be idling at CMB all day? Rolling Eyes

Or have they simply put off changing the BOM times on the system?

The baggage allowance on mainline Jet and Jet Konnect or Jet lite is the same (20 kgs), which is standard for all Indian carriers with some exceptions.

I'm completely aware of 9W's baggage policy on domestic flights. We were discussing the free, excess baggage allowance on domestic flights with my JACC Platinum card and the change in policy now.

Basically it seems like they are filling the void left behind by IT. Even timings match. However, its good they are providing a day light option and are bang on time with the school summer holidays.

Thanks a lot for the update.

Another indicator that BKK as a station does well for 9W; now they must further add frrquencies from BOM and DEL.

BOM doesnt need for 9W flights to BKK as it is already triple daily.

DEL though immediately needs a 2nd daily B738 as having one flight departing BKK at 0650 daily is not enough to meet the needs of the market. This flight also is mainly catering to onward transit pax bound to MXP and LHR as it is very inconvenient for O&D pax due to the early morning departure out of BKK.

9W needs a BKK-DEL departing BKK at 1800-1900 for the O&D market + onward connections to BRU + USA/YYZ + India domestic

More reductions & changes on international routes

After axing DEL CMB it's the turn of MAA DXB which ends from 21st June. This was an all Y service

Also BOM DAC BOM reverts to the late morning departure from BOM schedule effective 12th may

Further, 9w is going double daily for may & June on ccu port Blair & maa port blair

Jet seems to be filled by far more than the standard proportion of idiots. And I'm not surprised that the JetIdiots don't have a clue, when every day it increasingly seems that the only reason they were hired was because they couldn't tell their ass from their elbows.

Oh no! What about the poor, poor Milanese? However will they get to Sri Lanka now?

Spiderguy252 wrote:

Why not? Aircraft sitting around all day and decorating assorted tarmacs is an important aspect of Jetuna Matata ("Our profit-free, philo-sophy" remember?).

Jet's flying billboards seem to lose less money doing nothing than actually flying, so it's not the worst idea to come out of Andheri.

See their logic where Jet's hapless passengers earn less JetPunishment points from flying the billboards than from eating someone else's khandvi and, soon, pissing in someone else's toilet.

It's all part of their grand plan.
