That leaves with just 2 737-700 in S2 fleet - VT-SIZ and VT-SJA doing very tight rotations.
B737 and A319 are the only jets that can land at RAJ - my home airport and hence worried. |
Not to worry, JLA went to Hosur, JLB is in HAL, possibly to be repainted into full livery.
One erstwhile S2 rotation (BOM-BHO-BOM-BHU-BOM-BHO-BOM-CJB-BOM), was moved to Jet Airways, and one 737-700 rotation uses a 737-800 instead to allow for 2 737-7s.
All RAJ rotations are running as scheduled on a 737-700 _________________ <a><img></a> |

At this time there are no more Jet Airways flights using the S2 code. |
Now all the flights with S2 code are those of JetKonnect. |
Where do you see those S2 flights ? Jet Airways' flight schedule shows only 9W code. |
It still shows on FR24, but that's down purely to operational reasons, and the whole AOP saga.
For example, VT-SJI operating is flight S24324 from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, according to FR24.
Regards
Jish |
The flights are shown as S2 even on the airport display screens, as I saw recently. |
I see. I was at BOM today, not one S2 flight listed.
However, a chap who sat next to me towards the end of the flight had a COK-BOM-DEL ticket, all on S2. Even the flight I was on (9W307) had a S2 number. Hmm.
Speaking of which, I had the pleasure today of being on Jet's newest plane VT-JTB this afternoon, at 0.1 years old. More on this later

I got an email today from Jet which says one can cancel within 24 hours of booking.
We know that everyday hectic schedules may change your travel plans at a moment’s notice.
With that in mind, we’ve introduced a convenient option which allows you to change or
cancel your booking without the worry of being charged a penalty fee.
Change and cancellation with ‘Zero Penalty Fee’ is permitted within 24 hours from the
time of booking, using the Manage Booking facility on our website. This benefit is applicable
for tickets booked on jetairways.com and through our mobile app only.
After all freedom shouldn’t come at a cost.

Looks like 9w is finally adding domestic capacity, largely focused on securing BOM and BLR/MAA
Appears to be two new airplane rotations from Feb 1
One doing BLR BOM CCU BOM IXC BOM BLR
the other doing MAA BOM COK BOM RPR BOM MAA
The flight numbers are 9w mainline numbers.
They are as a result back to 6daily on BOM CCU, 8 daily on BOM MAA, 10 daily on BOM BLR (11 on BLR BOM), 3 daily on BOM RPR and BOM COK and 2 daily on BOM IXC
they are also continuing the new flights started on a330 on DEL BLR and DEL MAA, albeit on 737 metal
That's a full 3 frames of incremental 737 flying.. Does that mean 3 new aircraft or is this the impact of getting back a full fleet to fly |

Quote: | Jet Airways ropes in former Air India official to head its operations
Jet Airways has roped in former Air India official KM Unni to head its operations.
Unni, who retired from the national carrier in 2013 moved to the Naresh Goyal-promoted airline last month to handle its operations, and engineering and maintenance services, sources said.
Prior to his retirement, Unni was the head of the airline's special business unit for MRO besides holding the charge of its ground handling subsidiary, Air India Air Transport Services Limited (AIATSL).
He also held the charge of chief operating officer at Air India, though for a brief period, after the government removed the then expat COO Gustav Baldauf in March 2011 from the post.
Unni also served Air India Board as its member for seven years. |
Wow - AI honcho now running 9W ops? All this while 9W is gearing up to fight Vistara? Is Unni has good as is needed for 9W to improve in the domestic market? _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

Nimish wrote: | Wow - AI honcho now running 9W ops? | Nimish, you forget that AI has some excellent people on its rolls, both from the ex-Indian Airlines stable, as well as the pre-merger Air India one. Other airlines often know who they are recruiting. Let us also not forget that when Jet started, where some stalwarts came in from, and ditto with Indigo. Indigo started with many ex-Indian Airlines people at the top. We also remember people like B P Baliga!
http://yourstory.com/2015/01/bp-baliga-air-india-jet-airways/
this link that was posted on this site some time back.
There are some excellent people in Air India, and much of the credit for the good that happens in the airline can be attributed to them. Many a times, they are not able to do much better because of Air India's inadequacies and lacunae. I consider myself quite fortunate to have known quite a few, over the years.
Cheers, Sumantra. |

Agreed - though I expect the cultural differences to be very large between a Govt. Organization vs. a private organization - hopefully 9W and Mr. Unni have no problems settling in. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

Jet Airways to reduce roster offs by half for all 737 and ATR pilots: report
News
22-Jan-2015 10:42 AM
Jet Airways reportedly issued a directive on 20-Jan-2015 to reduce roster offs by half for all Boeing 737 and ATR pilots amid a pilot shortage that has led to several flight delays in recent months (Business Standard, 22-Jan-2015). The National Aviator’s Guild has however advised management that such a decision should have be made only after due consultations. The new rule is reportedly effective from 01-Feb-2015 to 30-Jun-2015. At present, pilots get a two-day break after every six days of duty. Jet Airways said, “Jet Airways is focused on optimum utilisation of its resources to improve efficiency for the benefit of all stakeholders. With this in mind, we continuously review our operating procedures, while maintaining strict compliance with regulatory requirements.” |

When did Jet Airways get its A380?
Just watched Akshay Kumar's latest movie Baby. They show a Airbus A380 flying in a 9W livery, Akshay Kumar sitting in probably 2-x-2 Y class and the same aircraft is shown landing at KTM in such a way that less than a third of the runway would be available.
Anyone else noticed that?
Just why do the filmmakers do such things? Why take such pains? Cant they just show some real take off and landings and some stock video of a flying aircraft? Its not that Jet Airways was being promoted in the movie and the only airline & aircraft shown. It was probably like many of us posing next to someone's Ferrari or Rolls Royce or a Harley Davidson as if it belonged to us.
But it did look great and probably the only time we might see a A380 in 9W livery. Nice movie though second half was a bit longer. Seemed like Holiday part 2. |

That is not so bad.
They seem to have come a long way from that old hindi movie where the aircraft is a DC-3 when it takes off, turns into a Viscount during flight, and lands as a Caravelle.
Most movie makers are not endowed with good aviation knowledge, unfortunately. _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

Watch the movie Queen. Kangana Ranaut boards an AF A321 (which seems to have two aisles),which becomes a 777 while taxi-ing and finally takes off as a 380
But the "aircraft" featured in the movie Zameen probably steals the cake and the bakery by a long shot - take a look

The Rajini-like evasion of the bullet by Ajay Devgn was also hilarious, though our lovable super-hero would have done something much more exotic. I can also associate with the surroundings at the beginning of the shot, since Hiranandani gardens has been a very popular shooting spot for Bollywood, and I remember the locale quite well since I stayed close-by, in the 2000s. One should see the crowds a movie shooting generates, there! I am not too sure now, since the area has become quite congested, with construction (which was in progress then, as seen in the movie), and traffic.

9W has tweaked its AUH schedules effective S15
* GOI and PNQ towards AUH would leave at 2000hrs ish instead of 0500hrs. AUH towards GOI and PNQ will remain same
* LKO will now do a W rotation with AMD. LKO - AUH - AMD - AUH - LKO.
* AUH BLR 2200hrs departure and BLR AUH at 0430hrs will now be a 9W flight. On the AUH BLR side there will be a new flight leaving at 0325hrs and the flight will turn from BLR at 1025hrs.
* As a result 9W will do a W rotation MAA - AUH - BLR - AUH - MAA
* The morning 9W departures from AUH to BOM/HYD/MAA/LKO/COK will leave approximately 90 minutes earlier than the current. Which is, leaving at 0830hrs ish instead of 1000hrs ish.
* Etihad has also changed timings of ORD, YYZ to a red eye departure.
* the red eye JFK AUH will leave 3 hours later. |

Okay so now there'a definite banks departing to and from India
EY's 0400hr dep ex-India, and the 2100hr dep ex-AUH connects GCC+MENA+EU+JFK/LAX/DFW/IAD/GRU+ Africa
9W's 1700hr dep ex-India connects to GCC + Asia + Oz + JNB, while 9W's 0800hr dep ex-AUH connects to GCC+EU banks
EY's 2200hr dep ex-India connexts to GCC + EU + ORD/YYZ/JFK/SFO, while EY's 1400hr dep ex-AUH connects to GCC + MENA + JFK/ORD/YYZ/SFO
Ojas, the rotation for MAA-AUH remains same. It's still MAA-AUH-KWI, the aircraft doing AUH-BLR-AUH begins a new destination IXE eff 29MAR
9W502 IXE1740 - 2010AUH 73H D
9W501 AUH0815 - 1315IXE 73H D
That aircraft goes onward to BLR. _________________ <a><img></a> |

Like the new timings. My only complaint is its hell dealing with EY to fix the issues coming from the schedule change. Since our JFK flight time changes, we misconnect in AUH and they don't automatically fix it. One mistake is that the 9:40pm BOM flight was delayed to 10pm and then the AUH-JFK was delayed to arrive JFK at 9am instead of 8:20am - for people going to work its a bit more inconvenient. Would have preferred a 9pm BOM departure and a 7:30am JFK arrival. So weird that the pre clearance in AUH is forcing EY to increase their transit time in AUH. BTW 9W and EY fly BOM-AUH 5 times a day (two wide bodies and 3 737/A320), isn't that way overkill? Also (W and EY have one flight (think its the 4am that are like 15 min apart - why?) |

Only few (mostly business class) would be able function well enough to go to work immediately. At best you can get about 1/2 day of work after a long tiring flight. Agreed that pre clearance does not save any time for EY and it may be better to clear immigration/customs in US. I don't necessarily think this attracts any more passengers to use EY. |

Any idea who handles 9W call centres now? Earlier even though they werent the best in the business, the agents were a lot more polished and spoke decent English.
Had to make 3 calls today and all 3 had a very thick Delhi/Punjab accent and a huge difficulty in understanding whatever I was trying to communicate. I couldnt view a booking online and asked a person for the reason and the response was - "I am sending u e-ticket no. Why you want to check online?!" Downright rude. |

Yeah, had two terrible experiences with the call center. Outright rude, and completely lousy.
The first one I called was so uninterested. She thought I was hard of hearing, same thing with the second guy. _________________ <a><img></a> |

9W upgraded me to J class on a domestic flight from PNQ to BLR. First time getting an op upgrade on domestic flights. Interesting to note that a midweek noon flight is fully booked. |

All RAJ rotations are running as scheduled on a 737-700 |
VT-JLA has made an appearance back in BOM, painted in the colours of Boliviana de Aviación (BoA), the flag carrier of Bolivia.
Bye Bye JLA... |

The timings for the outward flight seem crazy for a domestic route. Any idea why they are like that? _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).
