Turkish Airlines introduces Flying Chef service on Istanbul-Bombay route
News
7-Jan-2016 2:11 PM
Turkish Airlines introduced its Flying Chef service on Istanbul-Mumbai route, to offer business class passengers a rotation of menus designed to provide a restaurant quality service (FinancialExpress.com, 06-Jan-2016). Turkish Airlines general manager Western and Southern India Mehmet Akay said, “We are happy to introduce the Flying Chef service on our Mumbai-Istanbul-Mumbai route. We were overwhelmed with the feedback we received for the Flying Chef service on our long-haul routes and hence we decided to introduce this service on our flights to and from Mumbai as well.” |

What they need on the IST-BOM leg in J is a second round of service. They serve you a pared down meal after T/O, then disappear for the rest of the flight which is nearly 6 hours long. |

They could do a second service for passengers who are awake. Given the time of the flight maybe after the first meal service, most doze off. |

It's a guy in a chef's hat in J who plates your food and walks up and down the aisle making sure it all looks good. He's mostly for show. |

Interesting to note that at one time, airlines food used to be considered as a panacea of quality dining. With booming of upmarket restaurants, you no longer need to fly to pamper your palate.
