|
|
I recently had the opportunity to have my first GA experience aboard the airplane that defines general aviation: The Cessna 172 Skyhawk.
Tampa Bay Aviation
(1999) Cessna 172 Skyhawk N2382R
CLW-CLW
Clearwater Airpark, Florida
Coolest airplane ticket .... ever !!
Seat Selection : Right or Left
And we're off ... the taxiway at CLW has "Clearwater Airpark" written all over it.
Great legroom !
Here we go
Here's a better look at the Clearwater Airpark from above
Heading off towards Clearwater Beach and the Gulf of Mexico, climbing to FL1 !
And then, heading back
Getting ready for landing
And final approach
Back on Terra Firma, and taxiing back to the "terminal"
An afternoon well spent at CLW !

15 minutes and deeply discounted @ $25.
I also saw this amazing STOL amphibian at CLW : a Maule MX-7-180B Star Rocket, N10329 operated by Air Expeditions.

Thanks for the pics. Always wanted to fly in one of those things myself.
Are you a professional pilot like your dad was? _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

Glad you enjoyed them. And no, though I wish I was as skilled as my old man ! |

Nice pictures and good to see that the weather cooperated with you. I actually tried getting on a 172 a few weeks ago but we had a pretty nasty severe storm come through and grounded everything until the late evening. _________________ http://openflights.org/user/akumanduri |

Wow that was a great ride and at 25 bucks it is even cheaper than a taxi fare.
Thanks for taking out time for posting it, I am hoping I am able to do this joy ride one day.

747-237, you have a penchant for tickling us with the exotic. One of the most popular GA aircraft may be a sweet memory for pilots on this forum, but for the other aviation enthusiasts, it is quite an experience! Thanks for a lovely description of events, through your eyes (and camera lens), and some great photographs as well. On my only visit to Tampa in 2008, I remember road signs to Clearwater, but I never really got to see, or come anywhere near the airport itself. I really wonder if you got to soak in the moment, since you were busy clicking pictures for our enjoyment all the while!
Cheers, Sumantra. |

Sumantra, you didn't miss much, other than the awesome beaches. That being said, after I got done with the Cessna ride, I did indulge myself and visited the only other place of interest in Clearwater, FL :
