Just noticed on the S2 website that they plan to open some new routes :
Delhi-Jodhpur-Mumbai
Delhi-Udaipur-Mumbai
Delhi-Vadodara
Delhi-Chandigarh
Delhi-Bhopal
Delhi-Khajuraho
Delhi-Raipur-Hyderabad
Raipur-Nagpur
Are they getting some new aircraft in the near future ? |

This looks like a major redployment of their CRJ fleet. i would be VERRY surprised if these were opped with 737's!
With the exception of DEL-VAD, which might be with a new 737, all others seem to be CRJ's. _________________ http://www.cougar-rides.com

Sahara does have this track record of announcing new routes every so often, and then not doing much about it either. Don't get me wrong, I like the airline, use it quite a bit. But on new routes, they go all out and try to set up new stations, and then sometimes don't sustain.
PNQ-BLR was one such route that Air Sahara seeded quite well, when there was just IC and 9W with their middle of the day flights, with IC having the crazy BLR-PNQ-GOI-BLR triangle.
And then Sahara withdrew from PNQ-BLR just as the cream started flowing and the route started filling up. Now there are over half-a-dozen daily flights on this route, but no Air Sahara. (2 x Kingfisher, 2 x Jet, 1 xIC, 1 x DN, 1 x Indigo, 1 x Spicejet . . .) |

Boss dont underestimate the financial prosperity which exsists in the indogangetic plain.
I can see a 737 operating on the DEL-Khajuraho route.
9W already operates B737 while IC operates a A319 on the same.
DEL-ATQ is also one route which they shud have looked. DN is really doing well with its twice daily ATR flights.
DEL-CHD again plenty of money to be made on this route. currently shatabdi exp is the preffered mode . CRJ can be a good option to test the market if the loads are gud then the flight can always be upgraded _________________ Expeditors- You'd be surprised how far we will go for you www.expeditors.com |

The S2 website indicates the following 2 new routes
1. Pune-Hyderabad (connecting onto Hyderabad-Nagpur-Delhi flight)
2. Mumbai-Srinagar
No sign yet of the other routes like Khajuraho, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Chandigarh !!
Air Deccan has probably foreseen this competition from S2 and announced Delhi-Udaipur and Delhi-Jodhpur connections 3/4 times a week respectively. DN's flights sure will attract a lot of domestic tourists, though I'm not sure whether foreign tourists will use DN, given their bad reputation and the fact that tour operators do not prefer DN due to lesser commission margins !! |

S2 used to operate twice daily on the PNW-HYD route with a morning and evening flight.
Both flights used to go out packed on all days!! Until they mysteriously pulled out. _________________ http://www.cougar-rides.com

What is S2 doing with the international rights they have. They have shown no interest to operate flights to US using their own metal. No point in partnering with AA. They have no concrete plans to buy widebody aircrafts. They are in a mess and i guess the Government should take away S2's rights to operate international flights. Airlines like Kingfisher and DN have planned much better than S2 and have a huge order backlog. They are operating flights just for the sake of being in the aviation sector and have no aim to become a dominant player. |

Looks like S2 wants to stablize the Domestic side before concentrating on International.
Personally I hope they do succeed for Indian Aviation. But the reality seems different.

If u look at the Air Sahara thread u r bound to more info on the airline. Check out the interview given by Mr Sharma who is currently heading the airline.
Their current focus in terms of international route is ASEAN countries.
Their current DEL-CMB-Male flight seems to be doing well _________________ Expeditors- You'd be surprised how far we will go for you www.expeditors.com |

Maybe they plan to be "niche domestic-only" player with no long haul ambitions, and no plans to expand in India either?
I find that quite strange myself, but that's the only explanation (if you can call it that).
Or maybe they're just holding on to what they've got, hoping that someone else will make a move to buy them out? Much lower price at this time naturally, but something is better than nothing |

Massive redeployment of the fleet seems to be taking place. First it was the flight to Jammu frm Delhi which was downgraded frm B73H to CRJ.
Now The boeings on on the DEL-PNQ seem to hav vanished nw instead of the boeing we have 3 flights operated by CRJ,s on the same route.. _________________ Expeditors- You'd be surprised how far we will go for you www.expeditors.com |

DEL-PNQ seems to be 2x daily with CRJ's. I quite like the early morning departure and late night return. Wish it was Boeing insetead!
And did you see the fares? :O 11K when Jet/IC etc are all available for HALF! _________________ http://www.cougar-rides.com

Kingfisher has also announced its new summer schedule intended to take on Sahara, Indian and Jet, it says. There will now be mroe flights on the Tier-II cities in the western and southern regions.
There will be more flights on the trunk Mumbai-Delhi, Mumbai-Bangalore, and Mumbai-Kolkata and two daily A320 flights on Delhi-Chennai.
Currently, Kingfisher has seven Mumbai-Delhi flights daily, to which a couple of more will e added, while the Mumbai-Bangalore sector, which currently has five services daily, will be increased to six.
New services will be:
Mumbai to Baroda, Jamnagar, Bhuj, Indore and Nagpur.
Bangalore-Lakshwadeep
Chennai-Madurai
Chennai-Trichy
Chennai-Coimbatore all from March 26 or so. |

C,mon CRJ is 2*2 rite??? I guess its 737,s in which u feel stuck esp wen ur in the middle seat. CRJ is better than ATR atleast the aircon works otherwise in summers u feel suffocated. I still remember my first and last journey in ATR terrible ..
Btw for sunday ie 25/2 this madcap thing is the cheapest option in the full service carrier segment on DEL-PNQ
For an aviation fan this one kool flight u get to visit 4 airports in total with ample amt of multiple meals... _________________ Expeditors- You'd be surprised how far we will go for you www.expeditors.com |

But u have to crouch down to see out of the window in a CRJ. I'm 5'4" and I had to crouch down in my seat while flying in one and developed a crick in my neck. _________________ My Flickr photos

I prefer the ATR to the CRj anyday!
and god bless the sorry person who has to be stuck on the LAST row which is directlyopposite the toilet!
On the 4 CRJ flights that i have been on: 3 have been on the third-last, second last rows and those bitches are LOUD being closer to the cabin and all.
I prefer the ATR's much more. _________________ http://www.cougar-rides.com

I quite enjoyed the CRJ flights, except during the monsoons when they tend to bounce a fair bit, but that's if they don't get high flight levels.
2x2 seating is dandy, aim for row 8 always, but always.
Landing and take-off are low low low on those auto-rickshaw 3-wheeler wheels, and fun, while angle of attack at take-off can make you dream of fighters.
Only thing is, the evening DEL-PNQ-DEL flight is very very late, and the morning DEL-PNQ is bound to go expensive. And with 2 cabin crew serving 50 pax in a single class configuration, "service" is personalised.
Might fly a CRJ DEL-PNQ in the next few days, though I don't have the bandwidth for the Delhi-Nagpur-Hyderabad-Pune routing, wish I was younger. Could be a record for a CRJ flight? |
