'Charlie' is not used now. Rapid exit taxiway 'India' is just next to Charlie.

There should also be 'whisky' before and running parallel with charlie if you land on runway 27. I cant see it though. _________________ India is one of the richest countries in the world.

Thx guys.
@ Con Sprito
Taxiway E and D are closed for repairs / upgrade. So Last exit available for R27 is C. If you miss it, you have to got the the end, make a 180 turn, backtrack and vacate via C.
PS: This step ensures that the ATC sequence gets messed up completely and you earn the wrath of the ATC and aircrafts which *might* have to Go Around. Not the best way to increase your popularity rating.
But on the other hand, if you inform ATC prior to landing regarding use of full length, the Approach Radar will ensure adequate separation between you and the guys behind so as to give you enough time to vacate the runway. |

I saw that happening once on a wet day in June. A 9W 737-800 took up the whole length of the runway to slow down - missed Charlie and did a backtrack. There was a lady FO on that aircraft (Hey, I am not suggesting anything )
BTW, what happens to the pilot if such an event takes place? Do the pilots only have to bear a verbal onslaught on the radio from the ATC or does the matter get reported to the DGCA/Airline higher-ups? Do the pilots have to file a report or something?

Im waiting to hear such a scenario on the radio man.
I dont think so, anyway it is the airport at fault which is not providing enough taxiways for vacation and that too during the monsoons when the braking efficiency decreases. _________________ India is one of the richest countries in the world.

No, they cant blame the pilots. The Commander has the final authority over such things. ATC can say "plan to vacate via..." but if in the opinion of the Cmdr if that were to be unsafe, he can vacate via another taxiway... after all the safety of all on board is his responsibility. |

There is no regulatory authority reporting in such cases....Although disapointment may be the case by ATC in such occurances.

atleast 25% of the time SAUDI ARABIAN 747 misses 'charlie'.......most of the times during rain....if this happens it is beautiful to see 747taking a U turn and a dust cloud building up at runway9 threshold because DELTA is dug up and atleast 2 aircrafts make a go around... _________________ I m a PILOT ...I m an ENGG...I m a TRUE AVIATOR |
