Named "Tvisha" !
This apparently brings down the curtain on the naming convention of airplanes at Air India. Like the B787s, the A350s do not carry names. _________________ 11000 posts (and counting) on Airliners-India.

Air India puts retired B747-400s up for sale
23.11.2022
Air India (AI, Mumbai Int'l) has mandated Skytech-AIC to sell all four of its retired B747-400s.
The Indian flag carrier is seeking buyers for the following quadjets:
msn 27165 (ex-VT-ESO), of 1993 vintage, and with 74,564 flight hours and 15,651 flight cycles, retired in September 2020;
msn 27214 (ex-VT-ESP), of 1994 vintage, and with 76,236 flight hours and 15,818 flight cycles, retired in February 2020;
msn 28094 (ex-VT-EVA), of 1996 vintage, and with 63,120 flight hours and 13,021 flight cycles, retired in March 2021; and
msn 28095 (ex-VT-EVB), of 1996 vintage, and with 66,694 flight hours and 13,709 flight cycles, retired in February 2020.
All four aircraft are currently in storage at Mumbai Int'l airport and were de-registered in India as of early 2022.
Air India used the aircraft in a dual role, deploying them both on its own scheduled services and as VIP government transports. The B747s were the carrier's last remaining quadjets and closed a history chapter including the operation of B747-200s, B747-300(M)s, and a B747-400(M), the ch-aviation fleets history module shows. Hindustan Aeronautics has been reportedly interested in the aircraft for potential conversions. |
https://livefromalounge.com/air-india-747s-sold/
on the website of Skytech AIC, it is reported that the four aircraft have been sold.
This is corroborated by the change in the status of at least one Boeing 747, VT-EVA, which seems to have been bought by AerSale NV, an American supplier of aviation aftermarket products.
This means the aircraft will most likely be parted out, and the equipment will be used on other aircraft that might need spares. _________________ 11000 posts (and counting) on Airliners-India.

Dubai selected as Air India’s first international destination for new A350-900s
2024-04-16
Air India has scheduled the first international flight for its new Airbus A350-900 aircraft after initially operating them on domestic routes only.
On May 1, 2024, the first of Air India’s new A350-900 jets will fly to Dubai International Airport (DXB), a relatively short hop for a plane that is capable of flying over 9,000 miles.
The first Air India A350 flight will depart from Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi at 20:45 local time and arrive at DXB at 22:45 and return a few hours later.
The schedule of flights is as follows.

AI 996 operating DXB – DEL / 0015 – 0455 / operates daily

It appears that VT-ESO will be the other 747 (after VT-EVA) that will be ferried out of BOM.
It is likely that VT-ESP & VT-EVB will meet their end at BOM itself. _________________ 11000 posts (and counting) on Airliners-India.

Air India Lower Fare Domestic Economy Check-In Baggage Allowance Slashed To 15 Kg From Earlier 25 Kg; In Line With Other Desi Airlines
May 4, 2024
Air India economy class domestic flyers opting for lower fare buckets will now have a check-in baggage allowance of 15 kg -- instead of 25 kg earlier. All big Indian carriers offer 15 kg check-in to domestic flyers (without extra charge) and AI's generous allowance used to be its USP for economy flyers within India that would somewhat make up for the long-awaited improved cabin product on the airline's old planes.
Regarding this change, an AI spokesperson said: "We introduced a menu-based pricing model or branded fare families last year in line with global airline industry norms. Air India’s fare families, named ‘Comfort’, ‘Comfort Plus’, and ‘Flex’ are groupings of fares that offer different levels of benefits and fare restrictions at different price points. The fare families are designed to let our guests choose the kind of fare and services that best suit their requirement."
"...Bundled fares offer a lot more value and greater choice to guests for less. For example, the price difference between our ‘Comfort Plus’ and ‘Flex’ fares would typically be about Rs 1,000 on a domestic sector like Delhi-Mumbai, with the ‘Flex’ fare providing value of nearly Rs. 9000, including 10 kg extra baggage, zero change or cancellation fees, more loyalty points, greater choice of free seats to choose from," the spokesperson added.
Now on domestic routes in economy class, both ‘Comfort’ and ‘Comfort Plus’ fare families offer 15 kg baggage allowance, while ‘Flex’ provides 25 kg allowance. The Business Class baggage allowance on domestic routes ranges from 25 kg to 35 kg. The free baggage allowance on international flights varies from market to market, he added.
