New airline to touch down
- Daily flights to Bangalore from Jan

Oct. 1

ABC Airways, an aviation company based in Bangalore, has received the nod of Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to start its services from here.

The company will run two flights — one in the morning and another in the evening — between Bhubaneswar and Bangalore from January next year.

ABC Airways is a subsidiary of the Bangalore-based ABC Aviation and Training Services Private Limited. Promoter Rajesh Ebrahim is a commercial pilot and this will be a new venture.

“The private company is promoted by Rajesh Ebrahim will fly Embraer 170 aircraft to Bangalore and operations will start around January next year,” Biju Patnaik Airport director Sharad Kumar told The Telegraph.

The airline has three Embraer 170 aircraft in its fleet.

The news comes as relief to those who travel frequently between the two cities. They were worried about the air link between the two cities after a private airlines decided to stop its Bhubaneswar operations from October 27.

Satyabrata Swain, an IT professional based in Bangalore, said: “With the rise in the number of Odia IT professionals here and the opening of more IT development centres in Bhubaneswar, daily flights between the two cities are necessary.”

Debasish Mohapatra, a travel planner and consultant, said: “Bangalore is a major sector in the aviation route from the city. While the usual passenger load remains between 65 and 70 per cent on weekdays, the figure touches nearly 90 per cent on weekends. The new venture can be effective in the absence of any other operator after October 27.”

“We contacted the airport officials at Guwahati and Amritsar last week. Today, we met the director of Biju Patnaik Airport here and are really happy to get the co-operation and support from the AAI and the state government. Next week, we are going to meet airport officials of Patna, Surat and Lucknow,” managing director of ABC Airways Rajesh Ebrahim told The Telegraph.

“We will plan the flight schedule in such a way that people can leave Bhubaneswar in the morning, finish their work in Bangalore during the day and get back home in the evening. All our aircraft will have a seating capacity of 78,” he said.

Apart from Bhubaneswar, the airlines will also link other southern destinations from Bangalore. “We are going to have services to Pune and Goa from Bangalore in the near future,’’ he said.

However, Guwahati, Amritsar, Bhubaneswar and Surat routes will be given priority by the carrier because the cities have emerged as the new happening places in the aviation sector.

If they have sense they can possibly make it. Currently, we don't have a dedicated regional carrier. Though Spicejet tries with their Q400, but they are basically confined to a particular region. We need someone to come up with correct business model with EMB and/or CRJs. You'll find people flying from Raipur to Amritsar.

What? A start up based in Bangalore? When we have the likes of Air Asia and others lining up to start as well?

Sounds like another attempt to book some losses, nothing else can explain the need to start an airline exclusively to service the business traveler from BBI to BLR!

SG would be smart to start a MAA-BLR-BBI flight. The only competition to BBI from MAA and BLR are one stop options from Indigo.

Direct flights to Bangalore from August

May 25, 2014

The Bangalore-based ABC Airways will start domestic operations from here this August. ABC will fly to Bangalore, airport sources said.

At present, there is no direct flight to Bangalore after Jet Airways withdrew its carrier in October. "In November, ABC airways had evinced interest to fly from here. Recently, it has sought space at the terminal building to operate its office," said airport director Sharad Kumar.

He said that the flier would offer cheap fares to passengers compared to that of other airlines. "The airline has agreed to charge less than Rs 5,000 per passenger for flying to Bangalore. We have discussed all the modalities including parking fee of aircraft, providing offices and check-in counters, with the private airlines," said Kumar.

For Bangalore operations, sources said, the flier recently procured an Embraer e-Jet flight, a sophisticated aircraft with 78 seats. "We decided to run the flight from here as we are exploring flying potential in tier-II cities like Bhubaneswar," said managing director of the airline Rajesh Ibrahim. He said they would launch operations simultaneously from Bhubaneswar and Raipur.

The ABC's flight has 2/2 seating system. It has 12 seats for business class and 66 for economy class.

It refers to a 2-2 configuration obviously, typical for an Embraer.

Writing that full form here will get me banned for sure. Laughing

I'll give you some hints. so you can figure out.

Hint 1. It is not in English.
Hint 2. It is directed against the males of a certain religious group, and specifically concerns something they do to a certain part of their anatomy.

Go figure Cool

I suppose it is also to do with a savoury snack/breakfast delicacy of English origin, which rhymes with omlette. Wink

No, the controversial one has nothing to do with cutlets.

Bangalore aviation firm keen to start operations from Surat

Jul 1, 2014

The Bangalore-based ABC Airways, which is likely to start domestic operations between Bhubaneswar and Bangalore in August 2014, will be connecting Pune, Goa, Surat, Amritsar and Guwahati by the end of this year.

ABC Airways is a subsidiary of Bangalore-based ABC Aviation and Training Services Private Limited. Promoter Rajesh Ebrahim is a commercial pilot and this is a new venture.

The flier has three Embraer E170s, a sophisticated aircraft with 78 seats. Apart from Bhubaneshwar and Bangalore, the company is focusing on the tier-II cities like Raipur, Surat, Goa, Amritsar and Guwahati.

Official sources at Surat airport said, "The company officials were in the city a couple of months ago and they have completed the air traffic potential survey. Once the Bhubaneswar-Bangalore operations start, the company will extend the flight services to Surat as well."

Surat is already connected with New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Goa, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mysore, Varanasi and Thiruvananthpuram.

EH Pathan, member of We Want Working Airport in Surat (WWWAS), said, "ABC Airways is a new company in the aviation sector. We are proud that they have zeroed in on Surat as a potential tier-II city. We hope to get direct flights to Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Goa, Pune, Amritsar and Guwahati soon. It will be a boon for migrant population especially those from Bangalore, Odisha and Chhattisgarh."
