Biman do not deserve a brand spanking new 77W. They should be only allowed to take an old rust bucket ex varig 777/767. If they can run them properly then they should be considered for a better aircraft.

or let me put it another way......if you were Boeing, would you want a cr4ppy airline like Biman ruining the reputation of a your current top of the range aircraft?

What are you talking about? If anybody wants to purchase planes, Boeing will sell it. In fact, Boeing is selling Biman 4 spanking new Boeing 777-300ERs and 4 spanking new Boeing 787-8s. What do you have to say about that?

You're on another planet. If i had a shop i wouldn't care who came in and bought my goods. And what makes u think varigs 777/767 were rust buckets?. them a/c were ex united and ex BA. Hope you don't work for an airline with thinking like that

Ok, Ok, point taken on board about selling to anyone.........Im putting money on the fact that Biman will be the first airline to ever have major technical problems (probably self induced) with the B777s. They can just about run their DC-10s and they suddenly expect a jump up to a brand spanking new B77W. This is one amateur airline riddled with corruption. Their board of directors even concluded at one stage that the B777 was inefficient for Bimans use and decided to re evaluate the options.

and with all the corruption and incompetencies of the bangadesh governement, are they even guaranteed to get payment for the aircrafts?

If i were boeing, i would not even dare to entertain them. Too much hassle involved.

And dont compare this to AI buying new planes. AI is like SQ compared to Biman.

Financial discreetion and source of all funding is always taken into consideration before finalising any order.
It would be highly immature and stupid (pls pardon my language) for any aircraft manufacturer to just avoid an airline just b'coz they have older a/c operating in their fleet or losses are mounting if they can instill confidence in the a/c manu about adequate funding.
BTW, whoever mentioned it, what do you exactly mean by a 'crappy airline??'. Bad service, corruption, old aircraft?? A so called 'crappy airline' would order a/c's like the B77w to refurbish their inflight product and use these a/c's as their flapship aircraft on flagship routes. If these changes are not visible, then you DON'T showcase these a/c's in the Paris or Farnbourgh AS's. Smile

Granted that Biman maintenance may be far from what is optimal, but if any situation arises due to mx issues, Biman will be pulled up, not Boeing. And a small niggle here and there happens to all airlines. Such things don't derail the sales of the aircraft. Boeing will continue selling those 77Ws for many years to come. If you say that Biman will induce problems in those 4 77Ws, and hence ruin the 77W reputation, well why not look at the 70-odd 77Ws in the EK fleet running as normally as any other airliner?

Boeing's FD would have did their research and got a written statement from the banks from which Biman will fund these birds. In case Biman is unable to purchase them, there will be hefty fines imposed. That said, the 77W is hot property, Boeing will find another home for them very easily.

VT-JEL is being re-registered as A6-SIL. Guess the VIP operator is UAE based.

The former Jet Airways 777-300ER, VT-JEL has had its N-reg (N834BA) cancelled, new registration (A6-SIL) painted on, and has been ferried PAE-AUH, still in 9W colors, to her new operator - the Abu Dhabi Amiri Flight !!She is likely to be converted at AUH into a VIP config. for the Abu Dhabi royal family, making her the first VIP 77W.

Here she is, leaving KPAE as A6-SIL, on 16 Dec.

On the topic.......There are 7/14/monthly/3m/6m/yearly checks carried out on stored aircraft to keep them Airworthy.
These checks at times can be quite elaborate as they reach longer calender hrs.

Wow new livery on the 777 looks nice in a retro mode. Comprehensively changes the character of an otherwise familiar modern shiloette.

Understandably the fuselage looks longer and sleeker but the nose looks different in a nice way thanks to the diving red cheat line. The UAE flag on the tail too looks interesting in it's retro style.
I dare say the text fonts and the small logos do lend it a discreet air of class from the halycon days of the romance of air travel.

Must add that I do like Jet's livery - but this transformation is nice too in it's own way. What a comeplete and striking change of clothes for this big young bird.

Why not put the EK or EY liveries on it?

Or better yet, a combination of both, with "United Arab Emirates" as titles. Smile
