Some history about the ERs that i dug out from Wiki: Quote: After the Base Model (MD-11) failed to meet its Performance & Fuel-burn targets, McDonnell Douglas alongwith P&W, GE & NASA began a Performance Improvement Program (PIP) to improve the Aircraft's Weight, Fuel capacity, Engine Performance, & Aerodynamics. Was a hectic day, have not yet processed the other pics. This second bird was flown by a LM test pilot "Rocket 2" and did he go like his handle. Lift off at 2000 feet and he flew full blast across the length of the runway 27 till about Jayanagar and then punched out to FL100 and then straight to FL500.
