Was checking out Orbitz.com and saw 9W's EWR FLight..

I decided what the fares are going to be from AUG-15 to SEP-15 on AI and 9W... The difference between the two is $357 and now if you have a connecting flight i don’t know how 9W will succeed? And there are other airlines offering a lower fare than 9W.. Until 9W’s fare come down, I don’t think they will make any dent to AI’s traffic…

I doubt very much that the fare difference between AI and 9W on Orbitz will prevail with ethnic consolidators.

AI is about right from talking to couple of travel agents...

If you look at makemytrip AI=1195 and this is a major Consolidator no? And they're charging 26$ more than Orbitz...

on cheap tickets.com

August 15-Sept 26 on Jet Airways is

$1276---not much more than AI's

and also I agree that the ethnic consolidators will have a lot better deals adn the travel agents in india will also!

good luck to JET AIRWAYS

oops sorry if u book on 1800cheapseats then Jet airways for 15 Aug to 26 Sept) is 1279$ USD. other sites are more expensive i guess.

try www.kayak.com they find the lowest fare adn direct you to that website.

This probably won't have registered with teh travel agenrts yet at a discounted rate but im not sure.

Also is this a DAILY BOM-BRU-EWR and reurn flight?

That’s the only site where the fare is considerably low, but when you look at AI on that site AI is 149$ cheaper and I’m betting the aunties will take AI...

Me I’ll take 9W but for others that $149 can be spent elsewhere...

That said, It will be really interesting to see how the fares play out on this sector...

This sector (BOM-NYC) will certainly get very competitive/cut throat in a little while, what with non-stops (from DL/AI/CO) and 100s of 1-stop services and many 2 stop services as well!

Good luck to 9W in launching this flight..

So if Jet Airways is going to stick to its 1-stop strategy they might as well develop BRU rather than start flights from "A city in India" to "different city in Europe" to North America.

So now BOM-BRU-EWR

plans for DEL-BRU-YYZ

and I think they should also time flights to pass thru BRU to these destinations:
BLR-BRU-ORD

HYD-BRU-IAD (or another us city)

then anyone can interchange in BRU:
EWR,YYZ,ORD,IAD --> BOM,DEL,BLR,HYD and they cover all the bases and avoid the BOM ordeal (at least until the new MIAL is friendly for intl to domestic and VV transfers)

I think the Brussels India bilateral mou limits to 21 weekly flights! from India

to bad Jet can't start its EWR flight before 15 August 2007 b/c if they started in mid-June or even July they could cash in on the summer holidays (in the US) peak travel time from May-Sept. But nowadays flights to India are busy regardless of season.

Got this off rediff.com

Jet to launch US flights by July-Aug

Jet Airways, the country's top private airline, will launch its long-planned maiden flight to the US via Belgium by July-August this year and make Ahmedabad the fourth Indian city in its network to have direct flights to London's Heathrow airport from April 3.

July is Peek travel time and as I said in the thread started unless 9W matches its fare with AI I doubt it can succeed and you have to consider the endless connections offered to BOM, I can only hope for the best for Jet.
