Image overhaul for Jet Airways

New colours, new logo and a spanking new uniform - India's largest private sector airline Jet Airways is getting ready to take off with a spanking new corporate identity, reports CNBC-TV18.
India's largest domestic carrier Jet Airways is going in for a complete brand overhaul, to be launched on April 3. The airline will don new colours, a new logo and a brand new uniform for its crew, which is fashioned by a European designer. Its brand new Boeing 777 aircraft with a 3 class configuration will also be showcased.
Jet will be also be introducing new seats for first, business and economy class. But while Jet prepares for this big day, there is trouble in the air. According to sources, Dilip Cherian's Image Inc - a subsidiary of Perfect relations has been chosen as the PR agency.
But, Perfect Relations handles PR for Air India and its contract expires in just a few months. Air India sources say that they have sounded their objections.
European designer is Landor Associates. Let's hope its not a recycled design. Remember Air India and its red sash livery? Rejected JAL design it was!!!!!! |

That's what you call a wonderful reply to all the new carriers in India. Jet has the correct never say die spirit and they always seem to bounce back.
The best way to stay ahead of competition is to raise the bar ever higher so others are always doing catchup just like Toyota has done with automobiles. Kingfisher Airlines, are you listening to this as according to me, no other carrier in India can even come close to Jet except KF.
I believe all this image overhaul is in relation to their major international launch starting Aug. They have to compete against the major carriers of the world who have a better name / brand recall and the only way they can compete is to raise the standards even higher.
I think Jet has not forgotten what JRD had told Naresh Goyal on the delivery of their first ever aircraft "Naresh, if you cannot be better than the best, return this aircraft right away..."
Way to go Jet... Give the EU carriers a real tough competition on the India-EU sectors and beyond so the REALLY UNDERSTAND that Indian aviation has arrived and we mean business. |

I guess this will be the 1st livery change for Jet. The have used the same livery since they started almost 15 years back. Nice time to change with the arrival of their new 777's.
Cheers

Looks like the author of this story was misled...perhaps on purpose! Maybe they found their press leak. |

Jet to get new look, global image
P R Sanjai / Mumbai March 25, 2007
Come mid-April, India’s largest private airline, Jet Airways, will don a fresh look. The Naresh Goyal-promoted airline will have fresh internal and external livery for aircraft to reflect its new corporate image.
As part of international rebranding exercise, the airline’s cabin crew will sport new uniform exuding freshness and warmth. Jet Airways is also expected to roll out a new international advertising campaign to reposition itself as a global carrier.
The global advertising initiative has been undertaken by international advertising house M&C Saatchi’s India wing, while rebranding has been done by the US-based Landor Associates.
“Jet Airways is also considering a brand ambassador to have an international appeal,” a source said.
This move comes at a time when Jet Airways is facing intense competition from domestic carriers such as Kingfisher Airlines and international carriers like Virgin Atlantic, Emirates and Continental Airways. The rebranding exercise gains significance as the company is planning to launch its much-delayed US service.
Sources said the carrier was also planning to advance its Mumbai-Newark (US) service to early July from August 15.
“The airline, as part of the rebranding, will be introducing the first-class in its B777 aircraft. The seats for the first, executive and economy classes would feature advanced technology supplemented with new inflight entertainment,” the source said.
Christened “Global Launch”, Jet Airways is set to make an announcement on its rebranding and new advertisement campaign next week in Mumbai.
When contacted, Jet Airways Vice-President (Marketing) Gaurang Shetty said the rebranding exercise had not been finalised and creative work for advertisements is yet to start. Noted Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, who is also a director on the Jet Airways board, is likely to be present at the global launch.
Apart from the Newark-Mumbai service, Jet Airways is also planning to connect Mumbai with San Francisco via Shanghai by October. Besides aiming at flying to Gulf destinations, Jet Airways is looking at several international destinations such as Canada; South Africa; Kenya; Mauritius; China; European cities such as Rome, Zurich, Munich, and Frankfurt; and certain points in South East Asia.
The airline is targeting 50 per cent of its revenue from international operations in the next three years. Jet has reported a 77.3 per cent load factor in February with 671 flights in that month.
Of course we know what the new colours are!!!! Thanks to Aseem-ji |

Lovely livery!
I dont mind the old logo on the tail as it is unique to Jet Airways.
The yellow/orange band looks neat |

again Landor dont seem to have done anything spectacular with the livery...
i dont like it... theres no definitive idea to it... and its positively boring towards the rear... although the front golden yellow wavy design is quite dynamic _________________ If it aint Boeing.. I aint going. |

Well, there is a report that 5 of their senior managers in Mumbai have resigned, so maybe there is a slowdown because of that. |
