AI had the A300 but they are no longer in service
They probably used those a/c on the routes where they use the A310 now.
I had flown on the AI A300 way back in 1990 or 1991 dnt remember clearly |

AI had acquired 3 A300s in 1982. VT-EHN, EHO and EHQ. They were deployed on India-SIN sector for the first six months. Later, they were shifted to ME.
The typical ops. were BOM-AUH/DXB/SHJ-TRV-AUH/DXB/SHJ-BOM, BOM-DMM, BOM-DOH-BAH.
In 2002, they were donated to Ariana Afghan.
PS: IC always had an eye on these A300s as they were an oddball a/c in AI fleet. All major MX works were carried out by IC. _________________ Save Maharashtra! |

Well, buying an ancient, dirty A300 that even Ariana, Afghan Airlines got rid of isn't exactly moving up the ladder. |

Jagson was interested in buying them in 1990-91. Those birds were quite new then. _________________ Save Maharashtra! |

It's not as if Air India just dumped them on Ariana.
The condition of the AI A300s was better than the ragtag fleet of 727s.
Also, Air India deputed the full complement of flight deck crew to help Ariana operate the flights.
A few senior cabin crew were also sent. |

That's because the a/c are over 25 years old. Afghan Airlines used them for 5 years. _________________ Save Maharashtra! |

It seems that they are stored in Afghanistan.
Some trivia about the AI A300s.
The three were originally booked by Laker Airways, UK and were to be registered as G-BIMB/E/F. Laker Airways packed up and these a/c were picked up by AI.
Decisions were much quicker in those days. _________________ Save Maharashtra! |
