|
|
Greetings to all in the forum.
Too glad to receive news from OAG that SQ 502/503 bwtn. SIN-BLR-SIN is a daily flight from April's new northern summer schedule operating with a 777-300 in a 332 seat configuration.
BLR deserved this long back. With the increase in capacity, I expect a small reduction in the premium SQ charges passengers to SFO/LAX from BLR.
With this, no more hunting for LH, BA, et al. tix ex. BLR to the west coast at ridiculous prices or face unscrupulous waiting hours with TG.
Way to go SQ !

Welcome to the forum Megatop - great to have you on board...
Great news! Fills the missing gaps in SQ's network to BLR. Is the 773 due to scheduling issues with their 772, or is it because of perceived loads ex-BLR?
Will definitely help in challenging LH/AF etc to reduce their fares ex-BLR.
The only thing missing now is for SQ to reduce the 9 hour wait at SIN on the return from LAX/SFO to BLR - then things would be sweet! |

Hello Nimish !
Thanx for the response.
I was pretty sure you would reply me first. I'm glad to have with me someone who shares & reciprocates the way I do, a far cry from the AI & 9W fans sticking on to BOM/DEL.
I contrast your comment about the scheduling issues with SQ's 772.
If SQ could pull out their 773 for just 2 days of the week thursday & saturday due to overbooking at BLR, they might as well play around with a 4 x weekly 772 & 3 x weekly 773.
From what i spoke with the agents at BLR, SQ 503 atleast goes overbooked on thu, fri & sat of every week with greater front-end loads on SQ 502 throughout the week. The station manager also hinted at a media blitz in the bay area in the near future highlighting the increase coupled with the introduction of the daily 777-300ER on SQ 16 eff. mar 10.
As for SQ 1, I doubt any progress will be made as it falls in sync with numerous connections throughout south & southeast asia.

We have our fair share of AI/IC groupies and similarly AI/IC haters on this forum. I don't think we have too many 9W groupies/haters!
I definitely find AI/IC as the worst sort of airlines, making a mockery of the money we spend to fund these bodies. |

Thanks AKL! seems like BIAL will have arrivals/depts on the same level - which is a design of massive stupidity! I wonder why they chose something like that |

Singapore Airlines to launch daily flights from Bangalore
Bangalore, UNI:
Singapore Airlines will have a daily flight to Singapore from Bangalore from March 28 as against six flights a week currently.
The Airline in a statement said that the new service would also offer more connection options for Singapore Airlines’ travellers on the carrier’s global network.
According to the schedule announced the flight would leave Singapore at 2015 hrs (local time) and reach Bangalore at 2200 hrs. The return flight would leave Bangalore at 2315 hrs and reach Singapore at 0620 hrs (local time). To commemorate this occasion, the Airlines has offered its customers ‘Amazing Treats’ to select destinations.
These treats entail discounts ranging from 23 to 41 per cent on current economy fares to key locales in Indonesia, Philippines, China, Australia and New Zealand besides Singapore. This offer also includes a free stopover at Singapore while flying in and out of any of the destinations. However, these special fares do not include taxes and surcharges as these are additionally charged. The bookings for this offer must be made by April 15 and would be valid for outbound travel till May 31, 2007. Announcing the daily flights from Bangalore, Mr C W Foo, General Manager - India, Singapore Airlines said, ''Karnataka is an important market for us in India. The significant growth in passenger traffic from the region encouraged us to start a daily frequency from Bangalore''. |

I really admire SQ they way they market their brand and they way they have been able to sell themselves inspite of being an expensive airline and plus promote changi as their hub thats fantastic.. Though i do hate them becoz they are quite miser wen it comes to giving miles... _________________ Expeditors- You'd be surprised how far we will go for you www.expeditors.com |

agree with u vabby,
now BLR techies can smile with more SQ flights to their rescue from the unscrupulous LH-BA fares to the bay area. |

Surprising that outside carriers realise the load factors from places like BLR and HYD whereas our own carriers are still sleeping....couldn't 9W start with a BLR-SIN???
Hopefully VM will change things from BLR _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld

dear avbuff,
to be honest, the current BLR apt is a disgrace to BLR's stature. the SQ-TG-MH departure times face the worst delays for baggage screening (1hr) followed by the LH-AF ones. BA is more comfortable thanx to a later departure.
thursdays, fridays & saturdays see around 1000 people congregating between 8 pm & 11 pm heading towards SIN-BKK-KUL.
added to this the dastardly attitude of the airport staff when cleanliness, parking & discipline is concerned. i spotted a couple of stray dogs close to the check-in gate. the airport staff do not bother to keep the place clean, they litter it with tea cups, snack packs, etc.
such is the apathy.
the only hope is the BIA that is slated for an april 2, 2008 opening, considering it operates with a PPP model.
as all know, 100% govt. owned = 100% anomaly. |

Even worse is the practice of operating only 1 XRay machine for a bunch of airlines (like SQ/TG/MH), while 2 other XRAY machines are sitting idle. That 1 hour line can be easily reduced to a 5 minute line by using all the machines available! |

yep,
no takers for the IC-AI x-ray machines. with IC's lone departure to SIN at 00:05 hrs & AI's at 1:00 hrs, the equipment can be put to better use by sharing it with other carriers.
i only wished IC & AI had better decentralization policies at non-BOM stations. ..coz, for a petty issue as sharing of x-ray machines to make-shift check-in counters, u need to propose to the mumbai hq, which keeps it pending for months together, before a complete resolution is out.
this keeps me wondering how much vijay malya has lobbied/waited to get IC's resources for kingfisher.
no wonder today's deccan herald has hinted that he is pretty close in getting to operate BLR-SFO non-stop by dec-jan. this sure needs deep pockets. |
