Hi my name is David and I live in Ontario Canada.Joined this group as Im planning a spotting trip over to the Emirates and India from August 14th to the 23rd.
As things stand right now. I fly from YYZ - DXB via ZRH on the 14th arriving late in the 15th and then will stay in the DXB area until if fly to DEL on the evening of the 18th.
Will be in DEL for nearly two days before heading to MAA on the 20th where i will overnight, and then head to BLR at 0800 the following morning where I will stay until mid afternoon and then head to BOM.
Will head home on the 23rd at some silly time in the morning.
Questions.
1)In general what are the local authorities attitudes to spottters, Im more of a scribbler(take registrations) than a shooter but do like to take the odd photograph.
2)Does anyone have any tips on where to spot from at DEL, MAA, BLR and BOM.
At DEL was going to stay at the Radisson.
At MAA plan to overnight airside in the terminal if possible as I arrive early evening and leave at 0800 next morning.
At BLR was again going to try and stay airside.
At BOM planned to stay at the Orchid.
Any help apprectiated.

I'd just warn you not to shoot airside at BOM. It' a huge risk from what I've read here, especially after 26/11. _________________ Yeah. |

Hi David - welcome to the forum and India!
As it happens, there's no place to stay airside outside of BLR right now - not for another year at least. When you walk out of the terminal building, turn left, and walk on left along the boundary wall. The area's under construction - so I hope you don't have any bags you're pulling along, as that's not going to be easy. Keep walking along the boundary wall and you'll enter the L&T Construction office/zone - where you might find some huge pipes to clamber up on to get a tarmac view.
The other spots suitable for spotting are around the north end of the airport, but it's not possible to find your way there unless it's a weekend and someone from the Bangalore spotters group is headed that way. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |
