Wonder Aviation, a unit of the Rajasthan-based Wonderginie group, will launch low cost helicopters services in Orissa from February 9.
The first service would be launched on the Bhubaneswar- Keonjhar-Barbil route and back, according to its managing director, Col Ajai Saxena, says the UNI report.
In the next phase, it was planned to extend the service on the Bhubaneswar-Angul-Jharsuguda-Rourkela route.
To begin with, a MI-172 helicopter with a capacity of flying 26 passengers would be used.
Saxena said that the helicopter service would be low cost and cater to all classes of passengers.
The helicopter would also be given on charter to groups comprising tourists or business travellers to other destinations like Paradip, Jajpur or tourist places, he said.
Permission from the Director General of Civil Aviation had been obtained and the fares were being chalked out.
The company was drawn to Orissa in view of the emergence of new avenues for both industrial investments and the tourism sector in the state increasing the need for more inland transport service, he said.
Apart from commercial service, the company would also render service for relief and rescue operation during natural calamities. It also had plans to start a commercial pilot training course in Bhubaneswar, he said, ends the UNI report.

About time LCC Helicopter services start up>They have their Advantages over Fixed wing.
