Me too, going great guns with a Vivitar VPT-2400!!
It's sturdy, light and sports a sleek , smooth finish .
Afaik, Vivitar tripods are supposed to be one of the best brands around. |

Yes, they are but the VTp 2400 is a very light model. Even I have one, but I always find myself attaching some extra weight to it.

Thank you Nimish.
Well, theres a hook beneath the central coloumn. I usually carry water with me so I just tie the bottle of water using a thread! A litrefull of water makes for a good load !
Cheers,

I have a Manfrotto 055XPROB Tripod with a 488RCO Ball Head
No need to add extra weights or anything. Takes the load of my EF 100-400 along with my EOS 400D perfectly
It has been called the Ferrari of tripods by http://www.smh.com.au/news/reviews/manfrotto-055xprob-tripod/2007/09/19/1189881577158.html
And there are plenty of tripods to choose from, but the Manfrotto is special. It costs more, but then so does a Ferrari _________________ Dictum meum pactum, "My word is my bond". |

Thats a great lens you have! And any tripod from manfrotto has to be a great one! How much did it cost you ? And also, whats the cost of the lens ? Even I am eyeing that lens!
