I have a Vivitar VPT2400 tripod.

Me too, going great guns with a Vivitar VPT-2400!!

It's sturdy, light and sports a sleek , smooth finish .


Afaik, Vivitar tripods are supposed to be one of the best brands around.

Yes, they are but the VTp 2400 is a very light model. Even I have one, but I always find myself attaching some extra weight to it. Wink

Well, theres a hook beneath the central coloumn. I usually carry water with me so I just tie the bottle of water using a thread! Idea A litrefull of water makes for a good load !

I have a Manfrotto 055XPROB Tripod with a 488RCO Ball Head Wink




No need to add extra weights or anything. Takes the load of my EF 100-400 along with my EOS 400D perfectly Smile

It has been called the Ferrari of tripods by http://www.smh.com.au/news/reviews/manfrotto-055xprob-tripod/2007/09/19/1189881577158.html

And there are plenty of tripods to choose from, but the Manfrotto is special. It costs more, but then so does a Ferrari Wink

Thats a great lens you have! And any tripod from manfrotto has to be a great one! How much did it cost you ? And also, whats the cost of the lens ? Even I am eyeing that lens!

The tripod cost 9000INR and the ball head 5000INR. The lens is about 102500INR.
