I suppose BLR express refers to that lufthansa flight that connects well from BLR to SFO |

I guess you're referring to the condensation over the wings just as it took off? I don't really know what that is - someone else may have a better idea. |

Great pics Nimish, thanks for taking the trouble to share them with us. That JAL a/c looks like a 767, while those at ICN you thought might be Philippine Airlines are actually aircraft in Asiana's new colours. They do look somewhat similar to the Philippine livery. Looking forward to reading your trip report.
Cheers |

Ah - thanks for pointing that out. I've seen the new logo - that inverted V type of thing, but never noticed the tail! |

Another amazing TR Nimish, really. Really appreciate the comments for each photo and the snaps.
It looks like we have similar tastes- I love food pics , now I have to resign myself to the dominos pizza in the fridge!
That JAL was a 767 (duno what type)
That’s Asianas new livery. (not Philippines)
Poor BA 744, tail looks dreadful indeed. _________________ eP007 |

Mel you could answer this.
Personally when I talk about vortices I refer to the spiraling vortices trailing off the wing. The white condensation is formed just over the wing surface by compressions and pressure changes of the moving air- are those still technically called vortices?
Is it (the white vortices/condensation in question) just a layer of uneven airflow or does it rotates and spin fluidly like wingtip vortices? _________________ eP007 |

A vortex is a spinning, often turbulent, flow [or any spiral motion] with closed streamlines.
Most often caused by intermixing of differential pressure airflow.
As far as I recollect its termed vortex or vortices,if at the wingtip its termed wingtip vortices.
If you have a different reasoning.Pls tell me as I could be wrong. But dont think so.

MEL
I dont think you can term them as vortices. On an aerofoil, vortex generation and shedding occurs on the trailing edge of the aerofoil and not at the leading edge of the aerofoil.
Conditions are generated at the leading edge and they propogate with intensifying intensity towards the trailing edge, which leads to breaking of the boundary layer and hence the shedding of the vortices.
Hope that explains it

Ram.
Turbulent Air & Differential pressure intermixing causes this effect. The Air striking the LE of the Wing near the Engine Inlet pylon creating the turbulence.

Excellen TR Nimish although it is only a photo show speaks more then words.
Few Questions:
1) Next time if you happen to be in SIN let me know we can meet up as I am based here.
2) I see a PEPSI logo on your dinner tray? Does SW serve Pepsi Cola on flights. As far as I know SQ and most other airlines only serve Coca-Cola as they have exclusive arrangments with Coke. (check the dinner photo on BLR-SIN route)
3)In your opinion dont know wether you have flown 9W new aircrafts, does 9W score better then SQ's new ecconomy class seating.
4) Whenver I flown on SQ 777 in a business class immediately after take off I hear the massive noise from the engines this has happened 3 times....did you feel the same when you flew from ICN to SFO...

It's almost certainly coke on the flight, that pepsi logo is from my empty bottle of diet pepsi (which I'd brought on board to use for drinking water!).

Never flown 9W intl.

I thought that was quite a leisurely takeoff for a Boeing 777-300ER with the MASSIVEGE90-115B engines!
Ofcourse, it was flying across the pond, but considering that people bash up the A340-300 for its hair-dryer engines.... |

It was quite leisurely - about a 45 seconds roll for reach take off.
The 343 takes about a similar time frame (based on my previous 343 flights). |

Of course that is mostly due to B vs A wars ongoing on Anet.
