Just listening to ATC (after almost 3 months), and heard LH's D-ABTH land in BLR.
D-ABTH LH/744 16 80 234
This is one of the high-J configuration 744, so that confirms my suspicion that LH sends a high J density to BLR.
I missed seeing this beautiful bird tonight as it landed on Rwy 27 And I'll be asleep by the time it takes off. |

Hey Nimish,Almost 90% of LH 744 fleet is refitted in the high J clas layout so no surprise seeing it there, there was a thread on airliners recently stating the types and registrations of the same.
Also when you heard about the landing , how did you know it was D-ABTH--AFAIK they do not mention the registration of the aircraft they simply mention LH ??? clear for landing.

| It's about 10 low density vs. 19 high density, so it's not quite 90% with the high density.

Yup - that's the normal routing, but while taxiing to the parking bay the ground control will often ask the aircraft for it's registration. I hear that for about once every 5 aircraft. |

Actually there are only 2 aircraft in the 744 fleet with low density 52 seats, about 7 have 66 seats which are not quite low density, and the remaing 21 have 80 seats

well.. it doesnt really matter since our jumbos can be and usually are reconfigured from the now standard 16 80 234 version, as and when the route loads demand for any particular flight.
All are to be base configured as 16/80/234 with standard flatbeds in business class. A few regs operate in other versions off and on. There is also a possibility of a Y class revamp sometime next year if things work. _________________ If it aint Boeing.. I aint going. |

Good to know that - so no more "assumptions" on the seating layout just based on the registration!

This is something that's long overdue, but better late than never |

A bit off topic:
How many star alliance member airlines have star alliance painted aircraft/s in their fleet.
Is there any mandatory minimum limit or is it voluntary! _________________ I love the smell of Jet Fuel in the morning. |

Mel, JJ,
*A has a mandatory rule that some percent of the fleet must be in *A colours. The % is very small, and I think UA has only 3 a/c in it's entire fleet in the *A colours. In addition SQ managed to get a waiver from going for the full colors, so they have the tail still with the SQ logo. So it's flexible, but there's a contractual requirement. |

Thanks for the info. So the biggest tally is with UA having 3 a/c in star alliance livery. _________________ I love the smell of Jet Fuel in the morning. |

Nimish has it right. As does Saurabh. Sorry to hear about your bags though.. did come across your case in the office. Couldnt be helped really.. as of 2 days ago there were still about 13000 bags in FRA and stations across India are still coping with Passenger reports.
Its a phase we've been through, usually get one event like this a year.. and if we are really unlucky.. more than one.. so its just a matter of battling it out. Though in this case it didnt help that the US East Coast also experience bad weather just a day or two prior to Europe _________________ If it aint Boeing.. I aint going. |
