Interesting report.
An AFP report by Rachel Lim, dated May 24, 2007, says that a Singapore arbitration court has ruled that pilots who fly the Airbus A380 should be paid more than those on conventional jumbo jets, setting a benchmark that could have global implications.
The Industrial Arbitration Court judgement settled a pay dispute between Singapore Airlines, the launch customer for the double-decker A380, and its pilots.
A three-member panel ruled that the minimum salary for captains on the A380 will be 700 dollars (458 US) a month more than that for captains on the Boeing 747-400 (744) conventional jumbo jet.
ALPA-S, with about 1,700 members, has long been regarded as the only workers’ group in Singapore willing to stand up to the government, which has kept a tight rein on industrial action.

I feel Seniority should earn higher wages & not the Type of Aircraft one flies.

but if the type leads to added responsibility and added investment in terms of effort and accountability which no doubt the A380 will cause.. i think it would be fair to have some amount of increase in wages on those counts.

With modern Technology available with each produced model is more Flt operational & Mx friendlier.

The A380 flies as comfortable as its predessors according to the Airbus Test pilots.

Well.....these are the very words of one of my past students, who happens to be one of the few indians to have actually flown DA BIGG BIRD......and i quote....."If i flew this machine with my eyes closed i would feel i was in a 320."
Guess that about sizes it up!

I don’t see what all the fuss is about.
A 747 captain gets paid more than a 737 captain right?
And I would assume at most airlines a 767 FO gets more than a CRJ200 FO?
