The pilot can kiss his high flying career goodbye now.

If he feared persecution in Ethiopia, couldn't he have applied for asylum on one of his foreign duty trip layovers? At least, that way he wouldn't have the criminal charge of hijacking an airliner against him.

What an effing moron!

ET is "strange" in many ways:
- Arguably, the best African airline, part of *A, profitable
- Comes from a country that is associated with hunger, famine and oppression....
- Hijacking is another thing that gives ET a bad name, ET 961 if anyone remembers
- Accidents also not uncommon, last one being off Beirut few years back

But ET is a survivor.

I was thinking about the same thing. He could left Rome and gone to Switzerland (no additional visa required from Italy to Switzerland) and could have claimed asylum. Although I am not sure about that as the Swiss recently have tightened their immigration policies.

Was that a clever move...I feel it was not.....

sadly this was a staffer doing this.....get ready for more stricter rules in place for all including staff.
