In this article (posted in another thread), I saw this small para on MDLR Airlines:
MDLR airline, floated by a Haryana-based real estate developer Gopal Kumar Goyal, plans to focus exclusively on religious places of north India.

There weren't that many flying them in the US to begin with so that is really of no relevance. They are far more popular in Europe. They may not be the most fuel efficient but they are not big gas guzzlers either. The newer versions, as this airline seems to have acquired (RJ70) is a more modern and more fuel efficient version than the early BAe-146 models. |

Didn't Druk Air have a couple of BAE-146 airplanes, before the A-319s came along, and would these be the same ones? Also, I think some Bangladesh/Nepal operators were also using them. |

Read an article yesterday saying that they will be based in Chandigarh initially, with flights initially in the northern region. Their eye is on the western region after that. Let me see if I can post a link to the article. _________________ My Flickr photos

From the looks of it classic Harshvardhan style planning!
2 aircraft: one based in IXC : doing IXC-DEL-IXR-CCU and vv daily. with the other based in DEL as standby and for the odd charter work. 2 aircraft can be "swapped" every Sat as one returns for weekly checks.
Sensible IMO.
But they will really become efficient as fleet grows to atleast 5, with one aircraft based in DEL and the others spread out in subsidiary "bases" within one hour flying distance from DEL to form a "STAR" hub! Now they should consider atleast 2 RJ100's as a growth derivative. so 3 Rj70's and 2 RJ100's for each "STAR hub".
The 4 engine whisper jet's STOL capabilities means it will open up many hill stations like Doon to Jet service for the first time! What remains to be seen is how the RJ70 economics work out. _________________ http://www.cougar-rides.com

MDLR Airlines launches operations out of Delhi
The Gurgaon-based MDLR Airlines, wholly-owned subsidiary of MDLR group has commenced commercial operations, the group announced on Friday. MDLR Airlines will start its full service two class (club and economy) regional sector operation out of Delhi and Chandigarh to Ranchi and Kolkata, in the first phase. Operations will later be expanded to Mumbai, Surat, Jaipur, and Bhavnagar and a few more Northern cities in the months to come, a press release stated.
Gopal Goyal, chairman, MDLR Airlines said: "We have introduced four engine AVRO RJ 70 jets and will serve all vegetarian cuisine."

Air Deccan and Go Air sell only veg food on their flights. Spice Jet also serves only cookies.
I see nothing wrong in serving only vegeterian food. _________________ Save Maharashtra! |
