The US government is watching us all. Every bit of internet traffic, every email, credit card transaction, phone call and online transaction is being scrutinised and noted - all for everyone's good they tell us. It is the only way to keep track of potential terrorist activity, we are told.

I say no.

But, if you had a third option on the lines of snooping with consent, I'd have picked that.

I voted yes - because we must realize that everything we do is in the public domain and subject to snooping. Whether we like it or not. Might as well hope that some good comes out of it!

"There was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment. How often, or on what system, the Thought Police plugged in on any individual wire was guesswork. It was even conceivable that they watched everybody all the time. But at any rate they could plug in your wire whenever they wanted to."

The US govt doesn't have the time to monitor all your emails, Vms, phone calls, visits to BIGJUGGS.com, postings of cats doing tricks on youtube, etc., etc.

Metadata review doesn't mean that the endless chatter between tweens is on anyone's radar.

Besides, you'd have to be about as briliant as the love child of Rahul Gandhi and Sarah Palin to assume that other nations aren't tracking electronic communication flows.

As far as Snowden goes, he's a narcissistic, self-aggrandizing twit, but nowhere the "traitor" nor the "patriot" assorted blowhards in the US political establishment make him out to be.

And I got to say I like China's actions and words in this case.

It takes a lot to make nearly official statements like :

"tearing off Washington's sanctimonious mask" and "make and distort the definition of "justice" for its own interests"

Last time I heard about this news was that Snowden was still in Moscow airport waiting to catch a transit flight to either Ecuador or Cuba.

Unfortunately, request denied.

Hahahah! Yep. Damn the government : https://twitter.com/AkbarMEA/status/352006070367031296

It would be so entertaining. Think of all the sideshows we're going to miss out on:

* Nita Ambani and Parmeshwar Godrej will fight over who gets to throw the first party in his honour
* Some director will make an awful movie with an even more awful Hinglish name and completely inappropriate item number
* Mallika Sherawat will call a press conference, and in a fake Russian accent this time, claim to have slept with him
* The has-been busybodies (eg Kiran Bedi) and the never-were busybodies (eg Subramaniam Swami) will continue bellowing
* Arundhati will write another award-winning anti-establishment book in record time
* Congress will be caught on the back foot
* BJP will bus in hundreds of bent old women to Palam to beat their chests and bawl; they will distrupt parliament and demand the PM resign
* The commie Karrots will lead a procession demanding he be given the Bharat Ratna and that the PM resign
* Shive Sena will burn his effigy in Shivaji Park and send a bunch of goondas to destroy the Aeroflot office and claim they had nothing to do with it and it was just a natural and spontaneous reaction of the people and demand the PM resign
* Jayalalithaaaaah will declare a 5 lakh cash award, plus lifetime free idlis, to pre-mpt all other CMs and demand that the PM resign
* Rahul baba will go to UP
* Momto Bonnerjette will shrilly denounce it as a vast jealousy-induced international conspiracy against Bengal and demand that the PM resign
* Jet Airways will declare SVO to be their new scissors hub
* Air India will stick out the begging bowl
* Narendra Modi will (try to) claim all the credit for everything

India's asylum laws are only for Bangladeshis, Pakistanis and Afghans who will contribute to some bozo's vote bank. Don't you know?

Besides, once granted asylum, what if Snowden turns his whistle blowing towards the acts of some of our 'leaders'? No one wants to risk that.

Maybe the govt. just doesn't want any more leaks. What with millions of Indian men taking a leak roadside, at any given moment.

In all this anticipation of finding an Asylum for Snowden, it is surprising how he has survived for more than a week at Moscow airport.

Maybe Snowden should contact Dawood Ibrahim and get tips on how to escape the authorities without a trace and settle in an unknown location for the rest of his life. Smile

That's by far the most stupid thing Snowden could go.

The reason is everyone knows where Dawood Ibrahim stays in DXB and in KHI. It's just that India does not want to catch him. If he is captured, a lot of political and business bigwigs would be exposed.

There is a reason why the media does not even reveal his photo. The same 30 year old picture is dished out on TV channels. Dawood Ibrahim looks very different today. He could pass by us and no one would even recognise him.
