NEW DELHI: National carrier, Indian has broken all records in the Indian aviation history by carrying the highest number of over 34,000 passengers on a single day for the first time.
The airline carried as many as 34,535 passengers on Friday, the highest ever by an Indian carrier as per official records on passenger load factor.
During the past few months, the state-owned carrier has consistently been registering a high growth in passenger load factor, crossing the 32,000 mark on 15 occasions this year, a spokesman said.
It broke the 33,000 mark on three occasions this year and crossed the 34,000 mark on Friday.
The state-owned airline had carried the highest of 30,045 in November 2004, 28,860 in December 2005 and 31,168 in December last year.
The airline had been awarded the Readers' Digest Platinum Award for being the 'most trusted airline' earlier this year.
Many congratulations IA. Really wish the Govt drops the idea of merging you with AI. |

Good news! It’s always nice to hear IC doing well. (ok technically this is not the slightest indication of them doing well- but it’s nice to hear anyway)
Now if only we could go 3 consecutive days without an AI plane having an airworthiness problem _________________ eP007 |

IA is definitely the stronger of the 2 airlines and has the wherewithal to fight back the private carriers on their terms.
If Alliance Air is made strong, and there are indications that the Govt is being generous with its wishlist of 16 new turboprobs, IA can climb back on to the top of the charts.
Similarly, it just needs to be given freedom with its widebody fleet.
Lets' acccept it. A really weak AI needs IA badly. |

That is indeed a good load factor for IC---i hope things improve after merger,
I hear route integration is currently underway and should be completed in about 2-3 months
I hope it fits in perfectly with the whole structure.
IMHO the only odd ball in the merged fleet will be the AIX 738s,]

Route integration means taking the routes of both airlines and integrating them so that they don't overlap. At least that is my understanding. |

Any details on the integration? Which routes? Any framework being set up (say 320s operate only domestic or something like that)? |

Restricting the 320's to domestic segments would be grossly stoopid though that may well happen becoz that woudl enable AI pilots to retain all international flying to themselves.
The A320 is the only aircraft that can carry a decent cargo load on segments of upto 4 hours wchich makes it perfect for regional operations. The 737-800 has rather limited cargo capacity. _________________ http://www.cougar-rides.com

Cannot give you the source but mostly Gulf routes ... that means 9W might recieve its Gulf routes quite early... probably by this year _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld

Do in the name of "route rationalisation" IC is made to withdraw from routes where it is operating quite profitably, leaving space for 9W to come in!
We are already seeing it on SIN routes where IC is being made to pull out, and simultaneosly 9W is increasing capacity! _________________ http://www.cougar-rides.com
