|
|
I just needed some assistance in locating an address in BLR. Of course google does give you answers but then in India, you need that additional assistance
Address is:
Provident well worth city
Marsandra Yelahanka Doddabalapur road
BLR
Questions:
* how long does it take to reach there if I arrive at (a) 0300hrs (b) 0850hrs? how quick are the immigrations then?
* Best way to get there ... modes of transport
* Does the airport have good rest/bars in case if I wish to kill 3-4 hours there on departure?
* As I'll be in at BLR for less than 24 hours, won't be able to go around in the city ... so any good restaurants nearby the above address?
Once again thanks |

Nimish should be able to give your more clear guidelines but here goes.
This address is nowhere close to Bangalore city. It is actually closer to the airport (25 km) than the city which is around 30-35 min away (MG Road). Nearest place you have good restaurants shoud be Yelahanka on the main road from BIAL to the city (The BLR HYD National Highway) which is around 15 km from your address.
Your best bet would be to take an "authorised" prepaid cab from the airport terminal itself. Try to arrange for your return transport in advance with the same operator. |

1. http://goo.gl/maps/vHwlX - should take about 30-40 minutes at both 0300 and 0850 - basically I don't think that part of town has too much traffic.
2. Taxi from the airport - stand in the queue and get one of the regular Meru/ Mega type cabs - Rs. 17/km for one-way drops.
3. On departure - yes - it has a rest/ bar - "good" tends to be subjective - but I've found it quite decent.
4. Good restaurants - the closest I can recommend is "Coringa" - never been but heard good things about it. Can't find it on the map right now, but it's right on the main Bangalore-Hyderabad highway about halfway to the airport from the city. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

Thanks for the inputs TKMCE & Nimish.
@Nimish, can you please give me an idea how long does immigration take approximately if I arrive at 0300hrs and 0850hrs? FWIW I think if I arrive at 0850hrs the immigration will not take that much time, but what about if I arrive at 0300hrs? |

I presume you'll be one of the first at the immigration desk - in which case it all depends on how close you are to any other arrival. If you're just behind say LH (if LH is late), then you're stuck for a while (say 20-30 mins). As per the schedule QR arrives 5 minutes before EK - but QR often flies a narrow body to BLR. There are roughly 8-10 immigration counters opened, and they move pretty fast.
Never arrived at 0850, again it would depend on how long after the previous intl arrival you land. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

At 0850 the only international arrival (by a long gap) is EK. So if you are one of the first out, then immigration should be a breeze.
The arrival section has a coffee day lounge, which is an Ok place to spend coupla hours, provided you have a laptop or tablet.
Else you have an array of eateries at the meet and greet section. |
