If this is the state of affairs with the (supposedly) most "International" of American news networks, I shudder to think about Fox, CBS, NBC etc..

Not surprising. It's the crappy news network. Fox isn't even news - it's just a propaganda service for the Republican Party, and the idiocy is just bewildering. NBC, CBS and ABC are mostly fluff. The only real news service in the US is NPR, the American equivalent of the BBC.

On the other hand, news - especially international news - in India isn't much either. The printed press is terrible, and the TV news is just about as bad. It's mostly sensationalist stuff, and frankly, rather xenophobic.

With the Times - both the awful rag of a newspaper and the hypermelodramatic news channel - being the worst of the worst.

How laughable. Yet, how so predictable from the high priest of American liberalism. Fox, may remind the utterly so predictable liberal lawyer from the Potomac, is more fair than ANY other news organization in the U.S. The comparisons are not even close.

Fox has two shows that are anti-left. TWO. O'Reilly Factor at 8E and Hannity and 9E. The rest are middle of the road, and are straight news. Greta Van Susterin....middle. Shep Smith...liberal. Bret Baeir...straight news.

Compare that to the heinously leftist and vulgar MSNBC. This channel is wholly owned by NBC and does not even pretend to be fair.

They have NINE, yes NINE hours of a straight block of leftist kooks and radicals. They have Al Sharpton as an anchor!! Al Sharpton. Every petty socialist and communist comes on that channel. They even have one host who stated that Obama put a "thrill up my leg!"

Major survey after survey has repeatedly shown that Fox is the most fair of ALL US networks, hands down.

Once again, leftist propaganda spouting nonsense, lies, and complete factual nontruths.

FYI, There is a Tripoli in Lebanon.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tripoli,_Lebanon

I guess the dudes at CNN just got the countries mixed up. They obviously haven't been following their own news.

You're really giving them way too much credit (unless you're being facetious)!

Most journalists - hell, most high school kids in good Indian schools - know that Libya's undergoing turmoil, and that the Tripoli we're talking about is the one in Libya.

The next thing you know, they'll bring up a map of Texas when they talk about Paris, France. After all, there's a Paris, Texas too.

CNN International (what one sees in India) is a tad better than the CNN relayed in the US, but it doesn't compare with the professionalism of the BBC.

Reporters should have a basic qualification or experience on the topic they report on.That only will improve the quality standards & eliminate errors.

Look at Aviation reports itself.....Very few Reporters know the field so the reports emerging sound dramatic & funny.

To be fair, it's not the journalists that setup those graphics.

True. The real journalists are usually out in the field, or being interviewed while they're out in the field. It's the dimwits at CNN HQ who set up those graphics.

There you go again with the other completely bizarre and untrue statement of yours...that somehow the BBC, THE BBC!, is an avatar of professional integrity, a beacon of fairness in a sea of slanted coverage, and an international icon of journalistic righteousness.

Nonsense!

MSNBC (OR MS--DNC), CBS, NBC (National Barack Channel), and ABC (Always Barack Channel) are all pipsqueaks and novices in the game of slanted, leftist, ideologically bankrupt and morally defunct news channels.

The BBC's one and singular goal is to hoist liberalism 24 hours a day and denigrate the right at will, all at the same time pronoucing itself as a paragon of virtue. The BBC is nothing but a vulgar doucherag not even worthy of anyone's time or money.

+1 for your precious, TAXPAYER FUNDED National Politburo Radio, er NPR!!

Just setting the record straight for our Indian "friends" who don't know any better sitting in Delhi....

Well, I'm not giving them "credit" in the sense of saying that the goof up was perfectly fine, etc. Just saying that I now understand how the goof up happened in the first place.. It would have required much more stupidity to get this picture up, had there been no Tripoli in Lebanon Wink

To be honest, that could easily have been photoshopped.

Oh, it's real. CNN’s PR UK posted a Tweet apologizing for the error.

Exactly!

And that's why I believed Malika Sherawat, Beena Bimbo, and Tina Titsanjani when they twited about their profound Gandhian devotion for Anna.

Imagine the consequences of someone mistakenly saying that Asif Zardari is the President of India! Or that MMSingh is the PM of Pakistan?

Oh my, oh my, oh my!

That should be plenty amusing!

Thats why Journos need to be adequately qualified & knowledgeable of the topic before reporting on a topic.

eg aviation events etc.

It is not the question of these lapses taking place in every news channels but it has lot to do with what does the news channel does next.

Do they immediately apologize to do viewers about the error or do they brush it aside.

The hall mark of a good news channel or be it any other form of media, is to do the former. Then the viewers or the readers will consider it as a one-off situation.

Fox News has once again outdone itself by swappping Obama for Romney.

was reading in context of somebody, don't know who.... but that fellow managed to get scholarship from Rhodes as the admin staff confused between Costa Rica with Puerto Rico... it was discontinued when realized, but reinstated.

The Ravi Shankar mistake is by Fox "News," and not CNN.

Fox "News" have an excuse because they're essentially staffed by idiots, fools and luddites who couldn't even find the US on a world map.
