|
|
If folks can remember we had a html page some days ago, it had a link to the forum and a link to the flickr database.
A few days ago we had a meet with a web designer who incidentally was speaking of creating such 'dummy' pages incase you have more than one link in one website. He also said that making that page more lively made it interesting to visit.
So now putting that idea into our use:
Maybe we can create a page like that which will feature:
Top Photo of the Month, hottest topic of the week (it will be difficult to update it on daily basis), recent TRs, etc.
This page would also have a banner and a slogan.
This page will have some 'decorations' and won't be plain whitish like it was made previously...although that was a pioneering step.
This can help us 'attract' more people who visit the site. Visiting everyday, seeing latest pictures uploaded, etc can get them interested to start and post _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld

I like the Idea.
This Front page can be a link to all our Group related Activities & could be hosted.
We could make it more attractive,to the viewer by adding Pics,Banners & Flash.

Seems there are only two thinkers in this site. What the people who hold authority should think, is being thought by leading posters.
Change of the mantle is the need of the hour.
Great thinking and salutations to both the 380 and Mel. |

Aseem, just a suggestion:
http://www.orissaforum.com/
Me and my friend have been running this forum since last two weeks, I am also the mod there... although it was started before that, there was kind of a 'change in management'.
Although its almost new again, but the front page idea should give you a hint what i wanted to say. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld

We can surely have something like that. Does that forum too run on phpBB?
Also, what are hte options for creating the dummy page? Googlepages can be one option. But having the experience, I am sure the_380 will come up with a better option.

sorry for the delay in responding..
nice idea!! one of the free hosting sites or blog can be used to do that. The domain can be forwarded to that site and various links such as forum categories or photo pool can be linked from that page...
for start we can use Yahoo Geocities...anybody amongst us good in webdesigning... _________________ [url=http://openflights.org/user/aseemsjohri]

Aseem,
IMO, googlepages will be a better option. In Geocities, there is always a strip at the right of the page which reduces the dimensions of webpage. But in googlepages, there is no such strip.

news and tragedy!! I have registerd http://airlinersindia.googlepages.com/ with google, but I am nowhere near being a great webdesigner. So, have asked them how to give access to anyone of you without giving my password
On the positive note! once it is created it will help listing on Google search... _________________ [url=http://openflights.org/user/aseemsjohri]

We can create a separate Google account for AI.net, the password of which can be given to all members. Then we can publish a page of our own after deleting the page created from Aseem's account!! _________________ MRVC Mania. My blog dedicated to the new violet-white suburban rakes of Mumbai. |

That page was created by the previous owners of the site,
but the best options suggested are Geocities or any free blog pages. Then we can try and get the domain name airliners-india.net shifted to that.
The forum page must be somewhat like airliners-india/forum.net or something ...
And yes Akshay that forum is on phpBB _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld
