|
|
Afriqiyah Airways commenced its operations in December 2001 and has a network which encompasses 16 cities in West and Central Africa with Dubai being its newest destination. Afriqiyah is the Arabic word for African and our modern all jet fleet is painted in the striking colours of red, green, orange and black reflecting the colours of Africa.
We have long term plans to operate from Dubai to various points in the Indian sub continent and Far East, namely Dhaka, Bombay and Manila using our brand new Airbus A330 which joined our fleet in October 2009.
Afriqiyah Airways received 3 A330s in 2009 and have launched their services to new destinations which include Beijing, Dhaka, Johannesburg, and Kinshasa.
This year we are planning to spread our wings to Asian points like Bombay and Manila via Dubai, and our customers from the UAE can avail these direct services from to Dubai to these points. We are also planning to reroute our Tripoli to Dhaka flight via Dubai.
With these developments in place, we soon will be making Dubai as our second hub.
By early 2011 Tripoli will have a brand new Airport which can handle 20 million passengers a year, Tripoli's strategic location will enable it to connect Africa to rest of the world.

I'm sure they'll find it tough to compete on the DXB-BOM sector from an O&D point of view. _________________ Yeah. |

Afriqiyah Airways is owned by the Libyan State. The 9.9.99 on their tail represents African Unity as it is symbolic because of the Sirte declaration.
The airline was started to be an airline of africa with a hub in Tripoli.
They have some impressive hardware, A320 series with seatback IFE. Think of Kingfisher interiors but green! |

The best they can do is to fly one stop from Tripoli to BOM via DXB. This could benefit pax flying to/from BOM to N. Africa and Southern Europe. They cannot hope to get many pax to DXB, unless they are ultra cheap.
And if they are very cheap, GOI and UAE airlines will find a way to force them out of DXB. |
