National Geographic is running a special series on Asia here is Singapore and they showed us the Air Crash investigations on Saudia and Kazhakstan Airways mid air collision which happened a decade ago in New Delhi. Interesting to see India related accidents being covered in seconds from Disaster on NGC & interviews from Indian authorities

Dont know wether the same beam is broadcast for India but if it is do catch up based on the NGC India scheudle.

I remember this crash vividly. It was Diwali evening and I was watching TV when I saw "Breaking News" on one of the channels. I was shocked and stunned to hear about the magnitude of the tragedy.

What was more ironic was that people in my locality continued with the Diwali revelry (fireworks and all) while the tragedy happened. I just couldnt get myself out of the house to indulge in the celebrations that evening!!

Nat Geo in India is also airing" Air Crash investigations" for the last two months but follows a different series. This programme is aired at 8 PM Indian time on Mondays (a no of repeats are there) followed immediately at 9 PM by a programme "Seconds from Disaster". The second programme covers disasters of all types (not just aircrashes) but has many eposides on air crashes which are well reseacrched and even better than the Air Crash Investigation series.

On March 19 the for instance Air Crash Investigations showed the Aeroflot 310 accident over Siberia caused by the Captain;s son taking over controls while the "Seconds From Disaster" programme immediately after showed the BMI 737-400 crash on the M1 just short of East Midlands attributed to the flight crew shutting down the wrong engine.

Yesterday it was the North sea helicopter crash followed by the Townsend Thornsen ferry disaster where they forgot to close the bow doors. The latter one was more gripping.

So far thery havent shown the Delhi mid air, but they did show the Brussels one ir involvign the DHL and the Russian plane full of school kids, the incident in which the controller involved was latter fatally stabbed by the father of one of the victims of the crash,

BTW, on Sunday they also showed the DHL Air Crash in Iraq which was shot down by terrorist with mix and match of actual footage and reconstructed video. Very interesting......and they were lucky to be able to land a plane with a complete hydraullic failure....

I think this is part of a new series from NGC so keep a look out I am sure they will air this shortly in India to....

The worst in terms of being tragic tht I have seen is the one where the Egypt Air pilot crashes the plane, because he was about to be fired.
