I am coming to this forum after a long time. First I would like to convey my deepest Sympathies and prayers for the families who lost their loved ones in last weeks IX Air Crash.... This is my first ever Trip report and I have one another where I will upload it later. This one is my latest one which is from CMB to MCT via DOH by UL 209 on Feb 2010. Hope you guys will enjoy. Any comments are do welcome. I arrived ahead of the reporting time to BIA and got all my security clearances and checking without any delays. Within 30 mins I was inside the terminal Area. I took some pics of the Airport and my flight. My Flight for today's trip A340. Other UL and MJ on the Terminal Inside the Terminal Duty free Lottery prize benz Car display at BIA Sri Lankan Traditional Masks and Handy crafts. Final Call Last minute there were some changes in my seat. Instead of my economy seat I was offered a Business class seat up to MCT. How cool is that? Close up shots My seat Welcome Drink In flight Magazines What a Leg Space My TV screen Head Phone Menu Watching cricket's most famous blunders. Not much of a choice in drinks for me so I went with a Beer. Lunch was ok. Went with the chicken and Pumkin Dessert was really good Listing to Siyatha FM. One of the best Local Radio Channels. closer Look at the Engines Over Doha Landed in DOH DOH ATC Once in a Life time Shot for me. Thx to the Captain the Chief steward of the flight I got the chance to take this picture as a mark of Sri Lankan Hospitality. Even the Captain took a pic of me seated in front of the controls. Thx to the Capt. Antonov Beast Sudan Airways Landing Tea and Rolls during the 50min hop from DOH to MCT Towards Muscat Landed at MCT at 7.30 Local time. It was a great Flight. The pics were wonderful too. I've flown SriLankan on two occasions- in 2000 and 2004 and have had the chance to try all three of their aircraft types- the A320, the A330 and the A340 and I have to say that UL puts the other government owned carriers in the region to shame. Good for you that you got an upgrade. Hope Sri Lankan maintains their standards in an environment of stiff competition from other carriers. On the approach to DOH I saw a few constructions that looks similar to the Palm in Dubai. Has this craze of builiding palms reached DOH too. I for one would not like to stay in those, one tsunami and the whole thing will be wrecked. Honestly the food didn't look all that great for a J class meal. It looked like a regular Y meal, presentation (and menu) included.
