The 787 gave it a thought... but he didn't like... I read in his post in some other thread...
What will be the STUPID name if we merge DTC and BEST... D-BEST!!!
I can't understand why to have such not so good sounding names? _________________ Nalini... The Princess of the Sky... You are a star which will continue to illuminate your own A.net-India forever... |

An RTI/PIL is due here.
Explanation needed for the countless attempts at tampering with identity especially after large media ads worth lakhs are released to justify it. |

Going by the reasoning behind the new name I wonder if the new livery will also be a combination of AI and IC's new ones. Maybe they will throw in AIX and Alliance Air's liveries too. Should be interesting to watch, red, white, orange, blue and white all on one aircraft. Will certainly stand out.

Looks like the Maharajah may win.
Imagine if it was the Ashoka Chakra. Terrrible conflict between the Centaur and the Lions!
Sarkari symbol in opposition with an airline symbol of JRD golden days. |

How unfair...i had suggested Air Indian so that both the airline names are retained then deaphen and others said they didn't like it _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld

Will there be enough space on the tail for "N"?

Well i guess its just a matter of time...we'll get used to it...atleast Air Indian is not that bad...imagine if they'd keep something like Indian Airways or Bharat Airways
They would not have kept it as Indian or Air India at any cost _________________ http://www.myspace.com/avsatsworld

I would just end up saying - I am flying Air India, and omit the "n" at the end on purpose
Everyone would get the message I am sure....

How Nice... Air Indian? Was Air Indiagi taken already?
Why couldn’t they just keep the brands the same except the new merged company will be called Air Indian LLC or something? |

Hey LLC concept doesn't exists in India. We don't have Limited Liability Company over here as far as I know...

How can we expect a reputed media organization to make such a mistake of using the old centaur... I think they have been quite a lot into reading AI's inflight magazines... So when is the 772ER(...oOps LR) expected to arrive?... _________________ Nalini... The Princess of the Sky... You are a star which will continue to illuminate your own A.net-India forever... |

Lol tsk seems ur obssesed with the "-IAN" hehe kidding... he even called me Avijeet-iAN
btw frankly speaking its not that bad...
atleast the GoI can't rename the entire airline as Air India or Indian because that would mean ignoring the other airline which im sure even the GoI wouldn't like ... so the best is with a bit of maths,
Air India + Indian = AIR INDIAN
and also the idea of retaining the IATA code AI seems like a very good idea because atleast it has the initials AI like in cases of Air Canada, British Airways, etc

This name is so bad, its good.
Its the Sanjaya factor at play. Go beyond the norms of utter and total exquisite rotten-ness, that your badness makes you good.
I think that this beyond the pale rotten-ness in coming up with an airline name should start a trend.
Air French (or Air Francais)
Air Canadian
Air New Zealander
PIA should also become Air Pakistani in a show of cross-border friendship. That way Indians and Pakistanis can both be exquisitely rotten in their airline names as they are in playing cricket. |

I hope they wait before they pain all the aircarfts as I heard that some babus in New Delhi are now hell bent on renaming the country.....
So most likely India to be renamed as Bharat
Of course some of the party members what it renamed as Hindustan
So then we are all back to the drawing board with a new name:
Bhartusan Airways

Airline Code should not matter as all Airline code will be 3 digits shorlty.
The current 3 digit code assigned for Air India is - AIC
Indian Airlines (Indian) is - IAC
So it will be intersting to see the which of the above IATA 3 letter code is retained....

I personally prefer AIC... Sounds sensible with Air Indian...
Wasn't it foolish for both AI and IC to introduce new liveries even though everyone was aware of the merger... It's not an inexpensive proposition... They waste money in such foolish things and then cry for incurring losses... POOR FOOLS and their head POOR PRAFOOOOL!! _________________ Nalini... The Princess of the Sky... Maybe it was a part of the Cost cutting merger plan.. We only need to paint up a N after the name and Air on IC's aircrafts letterheads etc etc |

Something of this sort:
AI's new VT-ALA with an added N...
IC's new branding:
IC's old a/c with Air Indian effect...sorry guys the same on new livery(adding AIR) isn't my cup of tea...
NOTE: All these pics have been taken from Flickr group...
n Sorry for not changing the Hindi titles in AI's VT-ALA... Wasn't able to write in Hindi... _________________ Nalini... The Princess of the Sky... You are a star which will continue to illuminate your own A.net-India forever... |

It may still be AIR INDIA
There now seems to be a rethink on Air IndiaN.
This is because Air India is the more recognisable of the two entities and the GoI wants to go back to the glory of the JRD days.
The new logo may again be a blend of the Centaur and the IA wheel.
The Maharajah stays.
&
Also see this story:
http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/2007/03/31/stories/2007033100840700.htm
Sources told Business Line that the thinking about the name was based on the fact that Air India was a globally established brand name that has stood the test of time. Air India has just entered its platinum jubilee year, having been established by J.R.D. Tata as Tata Airline. |
