We planned to go to Manali from Hyderabad via Delhi and Kullu. We reached Delhi late afternoon from HYD and stayed the night at DEL near the airport (Orchid hotel is pretty good) for the early morning connection to Kullu.

The price on this flight is higher than most sectors between the METROS. I paid almost Rs. 1200 more for this flight than for the HYD-DEL flight on spicejet. The checkin process was fairly straight forward. MDLR was generous with baggage allowance. It was confusing to find the gate as they switched the gate. MDLR asked us to wait since they needed to check the weather conditions at Kullu. This flight is primarily weather dependent.

The flight took off about 15 minutes late. On board we were served a cold potato bhaji roll sandwich, which did not taste good, and mango juice.

The flight was pleasant, the seats are 3 by 3. FA's were quite pleasant. We landed after about 45 minutes.

Return trip: We paid more for the return flight than for the outbound, about Rs. 800 more, almost Rs. 2000 more than for the Indigo flight to HYD from DEL. This trip was more adventurous. It rained the previous night and I could see the clouds still there in the morning. Initially the flight was supposed to start at 7:50 am, but due to weather - mountain range near the airport has to have 5 km visibility, they decided to delay by an hour.

All flights from Kullu leave at the same or similar times, Air India and Kingfisher. At 8:30 am they announced a further delay of one hour to wait for the 9:30 am report. They also mentioned that if the weather does not clear at 9:30 am, then the flight will likely be cancelled. All flights were cancelled the day before.

There was a girl who was having a connection flight from DEL to CDG at noon, but based on the delay, she was not going to make it. We had a connection at 12:20 pm Indigo to Hyderabad.

Fortunately, the weather cleared at 9:30 am, and the flight took off at about 10 am, but near Delhi due to congestion, the landing was delayed by 20 minutes. On board, they served us the same cold potato bhaji sandwich roll, and mango juice and it did not taste good.

After taxiing for atleast 10 minutes, we finally halted at 11:20 am. We were getting close to our connection. It took MDLR about another 10 minutes to transport us back to the terminal. Then we claimed our bags and did a mad dash to the Indigo counters in Terminal 1A and reached just in time for the check in.

Guess this is the first TR on AI-net for MDLR!
They market themselves as India's only vegetarian airline.

The flight was about 60% full on Delhi-Kullu and full while coming back, may be because the flight on the previous day was cancelled.

Air India runs an ATR. The Jagson airline office was empty. The staffers at the airport indicated that Jagson does not serve Kullu anymore.
