I guess it only shows that old habits die hard.
You should send this trip report to Jitendra Bhargava who is chief spokeswhore for AI, and also send it to the Indian press.
So much for the new Air India. |

Karan, I do sympathise with you.
But l, I dont see it as anything different from a service that lived up to 80% of its billing..which is okay by current global standards and economics.
There are lots of such 'disappointing' trip reports about EK, QR and SQ as well in parts. My parents flew into Singapore a few days ago and they said that the veg food on the SQ flight was about the worst they had (and they have flown SQ many times before).
So whats the deal? |

This appears to be more than just the food.
Its also the seats (breaking), IFE (non-functional, or poor when functional), service (non-existent), demeanor of cabin crew (terrible), choice of beverages (severely limited), toilets (stinking), presentation of food (awful).
So where are you getting the 80% figure from?
Even when the food is terrible on SQ, everything else is picture perfect. Extremely rare is the flight when everything is not up to par. And even if everything else is lousy, AVOD KrisWorld is the best there is.
Besides, SQ can afford to have an off day here and there. AI cannot. |

OK - if you compare with a 2nd class train service (or a free flight ticket) - this flight can be called "80% there". However if you compare with the choices a *paying* passenger has these days for BOM-JFK, I don't think I'd come up with that conclusion. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

The disappointing TR's on SQ are many times those who either crib about everything or those who are biased towards another rival airline. Very few people give an honest opinion.
Here it was a genuine lack of standards in every department. |

The general consensus here is that AI can't grow up and maintain the interiors of their planes. _________________ Yeah. |

These people have worked in an environment with everything half broken, dirty, unkempt. Dirty government buildings, dirty airports, dirty airplanes. Everything shoddy, half-completed, and so sense of quality. What do you expect?
And then you have the city of Bombay itself. Lets face the fact that 90% of all Government infrastructural buildings, etc. in Bombay look like they're about to fall apart. Most of these people work in buildings like that, and are used to those abominable standards. Add to that the lousy civic sense of most Indians, and its no wonder you have brand new aircraft rapidly morphing into flying ST Buses. |

Thanks guys for your comments,
@Jaysit,
I would have send it to the press but i do not want to put a nail in the coffin of the airline, and besides the stupid media in our country prefer something new, this is as you said "old habits die hard",
i dont mind sending it to the PR head if i think it would make a difference but i somehow soubt that
@SSBMAT
Thanks for your sympathy, but i did not once criticize the food barring the cold sandwiches which looked like leftovers you would throw to your pet which he too would ealk away from,
you can ask anyone who has eaten with me some airliners.net members included i am not at all a fussy eater as long as i get a vegeterian meal,
Whats more is AI is known for its good meals and i have plenty good on the domestic flights but this time especially given the sector and duration they were not quite upto satisfactory levels,
As far as your 80% comment the replies of Jaysit is apt so i wont get into that debate with you .
@Ojas
Anytime as long as you can find me a girl who wouldnt mind being with me after i get castrated at JED heheh

Karan-ji,
Your report, pictures and all, has been brought to the attention of Air India's 'top brass'.
You can call the Customer Relations (Flight) at Sahar, and probably just across "the wall" , at 022-28318862. (Caution: The phone is unmanned most of the time.)
(Your TR has been brought to their attention.)
The TR has also (also!) been brought to the attention of one of the Dy. (District/Area) Regional Managers (Reservations).
.. all this on July 29, 2009.
Let's see what happens. |

Not quite glowing--he had an awful ground experience, and spelled that out quite clearly. |
