| As far as I know getting a cpl gives 300 hrs of flying experience. And I believe 300 flying experience is as good as "zero" experience according to airlines. Airlines ask for minimum of may be 500 hrs of experience to offer a job. So what do i do to fetch more flying experience? Is the instructor job the only way to build flying hours? |

Wrong.
You need 200 hours of flight time for an Indian CPL.
And in India a pilot with 200 hours does get a job to fly an A320 or B737 or ATR.

Becoming an Instructor is one way of building up. Some institutes (Yash Air, etc) did offer that. But, that meant sticking with those institutes for a like 1-2 yrs.
Don't know the current Scenario though. |

As mentioned earlier 300 is not the minimum requirement in India (or America) but that’s a different story.
Getting a job in India now is close to impossible. But yes, airlines here do and will hire pilots with minimum time because that’s the only option for them. In India there are not many other options- instructing and corporate flying come to mind. Don’t know how to get a corpoate job though, there wont be many openings in the first place so in my opinion being an instructor is a good path to follow. It builds time apart from the obvious other benefits and down the road when the industry picks up it will give you a slight edge.
Not sure how else to build hours, in India no options at all. Abroad, well im not there anymore so don’t really know.
Are you flying, thinking about training?

Ok so instructor job is the only way to build flying hours in India! Well abroad there are a lot other opportunities, apart from corporate. Few of them what I've come across are banner towing pilots, diver pilots, red cross pilots, sprinkler pilots only to name a few. These jobs are no way existing in India. That makes the difference getting a CPL abroad I guess. Corporate jobs in some companies such as fedex, DHL do exist in India but my guess to approach them is by direct consultation or ofcourse "contacts".

I'm yet to get into training. There is a batch starting this year(november) at IGRUA. Very less time to think if I'd should be risking myself. I'm 22yrs old now. Just making a research as to what would be the job opportunities after I complete my training and then invest money to get myself trained. If there is no way possible to get a job then I'd rather think of earning money and stabilize myself financially till the aviation sector gets back the boom and then get into training. Or do you think I'd be already old to get a first officer job at the age of 24-25? |

Its never too old to become a pilot IMO but had I known what the job market was gonna be like once I got out of school I certainly would've picked another career path for myself.
I can only speak for airlines in the US but YES airlines are hiring. People that have degrees in Finance, Economics, Business, IT, Engineering can get jobs here.
Good luck and don't take my post the wrong way, I'm not discouraging you from becoming a pilot - just make sure you evaluate all of your options.

Don't worry about age- you could be in your 40s or even older the airlines don’t care.

Getting a CPL , may involve gaining "upto" 300 Hrs TT, but more often than not, it is well under that figure!
