I wish to go to the United Kingdom (or a place which will both accept me and be cheaper) for higher studies.

In my attempt to gather information, i came across several websites.

There may be others too wanting to go abroad and study, specifically, Britain, France and Italy.

Since anyone desirous would go by an airplane, i share this with my new found friends of the aviation world, so that others can benefit.

UK education is not cheap. So be warned!!!

On the plus side (and a big plus) eff next month, all students are automatically given a one year visa extension for work experience after the end of their course. Earlier, except for some specific courses, you had to return immediately after your studies.

The new rules therefore atleast makes the high cost some what justifiable - but also keep in mind that the demand for admissions also will now multiply exponentially as many people think getting a job for atleast one year after the course will now be very simple (reality is different).

Also be aware that in UK, you get what you pay for!!!!

Cheap couses also means cheap quality!!!

So do take a hard look whether an equivalent course is available in a good institute in India (like IIMs, IITs etc). If so you will find it much cheaper (and equally or more worhwhile) to do it here.

Ofcouse getting into IIMs and IITs are hard work while getting into most UK univeristies (with a few honourable exceptions) is very easy. UK universities get hardly any state subsidies. so they need your money!!!

If after all these "heartening" news, you still want to go, I would suggest you attend without fail one of the "pre departure briefings" organised by the British Council. They are very good and worth attending.

Good Luck

By a coincidence, the evening after I posted this I chanced to see a report on TIMES NOW about some students being stranded in UK (75 of them) after the institution in which they wsere studying decided to close down stating financial diffiiculties.

Hence please be very careful in selecting your insitituion if you decide to go to UK. There are a number of very good institutions but there also quite a few shady ones. Be very careful if you are offered BARGAINs. Education in UK is expensive!!!
