OUR HEROES LEAVING MUMBAI!
An unforgettable moment for me !
Just spotted a loooong contingent of Follow Me jeeps escorting a fleet of police armoured vans, and lots of BEST buses carrying the NSG Commandos to the waiting IL-76s (GAJRAJ) parked at the remote bay @ BOM !
We waved out and saluted them as they passed by.
One of the two IL76s arriving to ferry the commandos back !
Notice the two IL76s to the extreme left corner amidst the AI & SIA 744s, and our heroes making their way to the a/c in the middle of this shot!

Now this is what is called dedication.
You have in your true sense, given AInets respects to these brave soldiers and given aviation photography a new paradigm.
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your dedication and respect to the nations brave. _________________ Dictum meum pactum, "My word is my bond". |

Good work there Sean but posting such pics might be indirectly harmful to our spotting community because it clearly exposes the loop hole in security that how easily these pictures can be taken. Which may result us loosing our precious JM location. _________________ ~~~Indian Aviation Photographers~~~ |

The NSG Director General is also reported to have made his displeasure evident to the Home Ministry about the use of BEST buses for transportation of specialised commandos.

Absolutely, i couldn't agree with him more , maybe Volvos or SUVs could have been used instead! Just my two cents. |

Why does it matter if they were in a BEST bus or a Volvo? |

Speed. I don't think a BEST bus would not run fast enough at crucial moments where very minute was important. |

I agree with that. Were they used throughout the mission? I thought just to get them to the airport. |

They were brought to the place in the BEST bus as well, which is even more shameful. |

I guess the difference between a BEST bus and a Volvo could be some 10-15 innocent lives! _________________ Jetphotos Flickr gallery |

True! Every rational minded person denounced that asinine decision to ferry them by buses to and fro ! |

King Long
Except for these CNG Buses (majority of them deployed at SantaCruz, Kurla & Prateeksha Nagar Depots) & the new King Longs, all other Buses in BEST Stable are as Fast as any other Bus. This is from my day-to-day commuting experience at BOM. And none of these CNG Buses were deployed in War on Terror OPs.
MAybe, the DG NSG was unhappy due to the Comfort Level. After all, he too has to play the typical GOI/Babu/MP/MLA trump card. I'm sure none of the NSG Guards would have had any kinda this feeling in mind.
And BTW, after 9 Hrs of time wastage, they realise the importance of every Minute?? |

u are right Rutvij.. those CNG buses are snails .. even that big King Long.
The best performers in the BEST Bus fleet are the MUTP buses i feel. _________________ ~~~Indian Aviation Photographers~~~ |
