Qantas to split into four businesses - report
four separate businesses under the Qantas brand.
The proposal includes a plan to set up a "Qantas Lite" operation, which would own the main airline and Jetstar brands and would be responsible for its staff and ground operations.
There would be a "Fleet Co" business that would own and lease back the group of 154 planes valued at $4.4 billion.
"Loyalty Co" would be the new subsidiary in charge of the frequent flyer program.
The fourth business would be a stand alone operation, "Freight Co", which would take equity stakes in the air freight operators Australian Air Express and Startrack express.
It's expected Qantas would retain 100 per cent ownership of all four businesses, but new investors could be brought in.
Jet Airways being getting ideas from here? Jet Lite and Qantas Lite? |

Qantas makeover complete
July 25, 2007 12:00am
QANTAS yesterday lifted the covers off its new "big foot" kangaroo logo and offered a glimpse of the upmarket features that will soon become permanent on its fleet.

Qantas roo stirs the possum

IT TOOK 200 attempts to get it right, but the man behind the new Qantas logo said he never dared scrub out the 60-year-old flying kangaroo. In an exercise that will cost the company about $5 million, the new logo is almost identical - a white roo on a red background.
The change in logo was needed to accommodate a new carbon-fibre panel on the 450-seat Airbus A380. It will take six years to repaint all Qantas's 188 aircraft. |
