WestJet Launches Paperless Boarding Pass
Btbtravel.com – June 26, 2007
WestJet has announced the introduction of the paperless boarding pass. WestJet is the first airline in North America to use this innovative e-format to check in and board guests. Starting in Victoria (British Columbia) (June 26), guests will be able to proceed through security and board their WestJet flight using the paperless boarding pass displayed on their personal mobile device.
"This is just the beginning. In the coming weeks, our guests will see more WestJet destinations in Canada offer this convenient paperless service," said Dale Tinevez, Vice-President of Airports for WestJet. "Our team has worked diligently to bring this innovation to our guests and I thank them for their efforts. All of our WestJet owners are committed to building on our exceptional guest experience."
During the WestJet Web check-in process, guests will now be presented boarding pass options. They can choose to print their boarding pass immediately or at the airport, or select the paperless boarding pass option and have an e-mail sent to their mobile device. They will then show the boarding pass displayed on their mobile device to proceed through security and to board their flight. WestJet paperless boarding passes will be accepted gradually across Canada in the coming weeks. WestJet Mobile check-in was launched in early May and future enhancements include expanding Web check-in to transborder destinations.
"We are also expanding our Web check-in service," added Tinevez. "Our transborder destinations will soon be included, allowing guests travelling to the United States the ability to check in and select a seat online up to 24 hours before their departure." |
