Online tracker for aircraft noise
http://www.baa.com/
Quotes:
BAA has launched a new website that will enable local residents around its Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports to find out more about the likely effects of aircraft noise in their communities, understand why they are hearing noise from planes and enable them to make enquiries or complaints on-line.
The system is part of a £1.8 million investment programme by BAA to upgrade its noise and track keeping and complaints handling systems at its London airports and includes the launch of ‘Webtrack.’ ‘Webtrack’ is an innovative on-line tracking system that at a scroll of a mouse allows local residents to track aircraft arriving and departing from the airport, and displays their height, allowing them to make more detailed enquiries about aircraft noise.

Forget about restrictions, we have vintage soviet era cargo turboprops and jets frequenting Mumbai airport . I am damn sure these aircraft are banned in the UK and some EU countries not only bcos of the noisy racket they create but the long trails of black polluting smoke they leave as mementos behind. |

This is what you gentlemen are reffering to (Antonov 12),
Sean mate, u were there with me when we snapped this, what a long plume of black crap this one left & the noiiise ??
Mannn !!!! Those flock of birds would've diverted their routes that entire morning to avoid her.
And yes here's the IAF AN 32 by far one of the biggest contributors to the list.

Man that vintage 737 is the one that i die for (in terms of spotting) there's nothing more that gets your heart pounding more than that plane's take-off, the vibration in your chest & the surreal noise...............
Oh Boyyyyyy!!!!!
Abt Yash i thought the little boy would start crying but the young man held on (just kidding Yash).
Actually the other two, are Indian Airlines A300 & the Blue Dart 757-200

Not necessary. In fact this can hamper Mx during critical hrs & lead to unwanted extended delays.

Hey Yash. If you remember , we too were up on that wall when the blast from the UPS MD11-F hit us like a bullet , and all the dirt and dust flying all around had us ducking for cover !!!
Nevertheless, enjoyed the blasting sessions up on that wall. Unfortunately that spot is history now. |

True, in some cases it can also affect scheduling and a whole lot of other things.
The point being that when it comes to pollution control (noise sadly counts as that sometimes) the Europeans tend to be the most strict. Can it be detrimental to operations and maintenance, of course- but overall, it's good that they are looking at ways to reduce it. Not every solution will make everyone happy. _________________ eP007 |

Its good to be concious of the pollution levels...noise or air.But also a balance between reasons for that noise should be in place. At times I feel some folks go overboard.

In terms of noise, the A380 has to be among the quietest big jetliners if not THE quietest. Could harly hear her Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 even at full power when she was taking off, partly because she wasnt fully loaded up but still i dont think she would've made that much noise. So refined a noise that everytime i go to spot & the couple of knowledgable locals (at Jari-Mari) who sometimes come over for a chat with me & sean often always recall the A380 as they were kinda astonished about its virtual noiselessness against the size of the plane as after watching the lead-up to the A380's Mumbai visit they thought that the place would be a virtual battlezone when the plane would power up but were they impressed, so were everyone else !! |

Luckily for BD we don't seem to have any noise pollution laws in the country, otherwise those monstrosities called 732s would have been banned years ago |

I love loud aircrafts and am really going to miss the B732s when they are phased out.
Some of you guys might remember the good old Caravelles, they were really very loud.
The drone of the AN-12/32 is really amazing, you can hear it from miles. You can feel the windows vibrate when it passes overhead at a low altitude. _________________ Save Maharashtra! |

Nimish....If IC/CD had no B732s that was a possibility....But then even if a rule is enforced. The smart airline will upgrade its fleet accordingly.
By mid next year you should be hearing the RB211s only at BLR:)
