Possibly because the acquisition costs of the 789 are a lot higher and don't justify the profits that can allegedly be made on the India-US routes.
Possibly because the babu neta gang already have too many potential CBI enquiries on their plates because of the 777 deal and are recalcitrant to spend more money on a new airplane type?
Possibly because everyone realizes that an airline that loses money on a route like BOM-LHR should not even be running a fleet of bullock carts on the Sonepat - Panipat dirt road, let alone flying modern aircraft?
See, the possibilities are endless... _________________ I don't know which is the more pampered bunch : AI's widebodies (the aunties) or Jet's widebodies (the planes).

The committee that decided on the abeyance of the B789 plan had people from the advisory board as well, who are not Air India employees. It seems to be a well-informed committee. It is just that from the comfort of my armchair, I do not like the decision, as do many of us here.
Cheers, Sumantra. |
