Hello everyone,
I will be going to India in one week, and will be arriving in BLR the evening of the 16th (assuming that tropical storm Chantala doesn't mess with my plans). I will be on the AF flight that arrives at 23:45. What are the best transportation options to get into Bangalore? I am heading to the southern part of the city. Also, how long can I expect the journey to take?

At that time of the night, your best option would be taking an airport taxi to your destination. You could also take the BIAS buses, however you'll need to haggle with auto drivers once you reach the bus-stop nearest to your destination. Since you'll reach South Bangalore somewhere around 1 in the morning, finding an auto might be difficult.
Cheers

It's quite a mess, but exit the airport (don't talk to the guys pushing pre-paid taxis in the terminal building - they are with Akbar travels and more expensive), walk to the left to the signs saying "Taxis" - and ignore every single guy who tries to sell you a cab. Once you reach the taxi rank (you'll know you're there by the long line of white taxis queued up), get into the first one there, and that will take you home. If you intend to use your credit card to pay, remember to ask for a cab with credit card facility - about 1 in 3 have them. Should cost you around Rs 1000 (perhaps 100-200 more) depending on how far south in Bangalore you need to go. _________________ We miss you Nalini! |
