Hi KK - welcome to AI.net!

Yes - this information has been posted before - though it get routinely repeated every month in the media like there's some new information. The BIAL team had announced a 2/April inaugural date for the BIAL airport a couple of months ago, and said they were not a race to open first (HYD opens in March 2008), but wanted to provide enough time for logistics and testing before inauguration.

Its beginning to sound like they are quietly positioning themselves for a race however. To say they will be ready in January for trials but scheduled launch only on APRIL 2....... hmmm!! The only thing that could stop a 'race' would be that some wise pollie has decided that April 2 is a very auspicious date bacause the poor airport is a Manglik and therefore will need to be married to a cow first!!

Hahahah quite possible in India, but I doubt the operators of BIAL are in the same league.
It will take a few months of testing; maybe the January deadline is optimistic or provides them a buffer?

OT, interesting article http://www.newindpress.com/NewsItems.asp?ID=IE120070510114704&Page=1&Title=Bangalore&Topic=0

According to Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) CEO Albert Bruner, the airport’s runway would easily accommodate the A-380 as it is being made to Code-F specifications, which demand a greater width for the runways, taxiways and the distance between two parallel taxiways.
“In any case, the A-380 is allowed to land on a Code-E runway,” Bruner said, explaining that the Code-E is the standard for a Boeing 747.

He reasoned that the capability to handle the football-field-sized aircraft on a regular basis would depend on the airport expansion plans in about six years or so -- which means a second runway and an extended terminal building. The reason that BIAL does not expect the A-380 in Bangalore yet is that Delhi and Mumbai are bigger markets, Bruner said
