The Chrome book is built using a Linux kernel, and is meant to be used with online software such as Google Drive. It's desktop capabilities are limited at best, It's primary focus is internet productivity. I can say that it starts up extremely quickly, and also has a pretty fast connection. If you are looking for a laptop that can run MS Office and other programs, keep looking. if you are content with using the Internet for everything, it is fairly decent. _________________ http://openflights.org/user/akumanduri |

I have the original chrome book as a beta tester before it came out the masses about 2-3 years back. OS is pretty decent by Google which allows you to nearly do everything provided your on the NET. (You need to be connected to a broadband connection) to make use of the chrome book for most functions.
If your main use is to browse the web the book will handle the job with ease. Office work defaults to Google free software similar to the MS office suite. (I've never used it) since I have a Windows 7 laptop and Desktop.
The newer Chrome Books have a bunch of USB ports plus one USB 3.0 port and HDMI output.
I mainly use my Chrome Book for Internet browsing because I find it slow for do any work, and on the original Chrome Book the mouse doesn't work great so scrolling a document is a hassle.
I would go and preview the newer Chrome Books by Acer, and Samsung and see how you like them before buying it. |
