And only the final part awaits now, and I promise it would be up today, latest tomorrow.

Nice pictures from the bird park - lovely place! And one trick with Mustafa is to go there late at night - it's open 24X7 - and do your shopping in the cool of the night when you don't have to fight for a cab on the return... _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

This was a real treat for the senses, Jishnu.
What a fantastic description and stupendous collection of pictures from the
Jurong Bird Park! Just a question - did you not go to the Jurong Reptile Park, across the street? No, it is not as impressive, but for an Indian, it may be interesting to go and see the false gharial. This is a native of south-east Asia and some bit of Oceania, too. Gharials are banned from export, so chances of seeing one outside India are not very common. A false gharial looks a bit like a gharial, minus the bulbous end of the snout.
Back to the Jurong Bird Park.
I see that you noted the Malibu Stork this time, and clicked many examples of the same! This is one bird that has fascinated me since and early age, and always looked like an old man - I felt the same since I first saw a picture, at a very young age!
The crowned pigeons are superb, so is the third bird of prey - the Sea Eagle, if I remember correctly. The first picture in the bird park - looks like a variety of Cormorant - what a superb capture you made, with its wings spread! Thanks for sharing all this - this brought back many sweet memories of my first trip there, in 2002.

Nimish, you could not have said it better. I did the same in 2004 - my colleague was dog tired, and I did not want to miss the Mustafa shopping, so in I went at 12:30 am (I had a 7am flight to catch next morning!), and hardly got any sleep!
Cheers, Sumantra. |

There are 3 other fantastic new TR's up in the forum, we should emphasize on that for now, I'll take my time |
Hey no...Jishnu, we are eagerly awaiting the other parts! There can never be too much of a good thing.
Cheers, Sumantra. |
Everything is up and complete

Just a little query - at first sight, the ground for the Maroon 5 and Katy Perry concert looked a bit like the Padang/Kallang, but this area does not look like Connaught Drive. The Padang/Kallang, which is Singapore's cricket ground, has the INA memorial somewhere close-by. For a country where the fourth language is one of Indian origin (Tamil), it is surprising that the people of India origin have but forgotten that this was the very place where Netaji had taken salute at the formation of the Indian National Army. Sentosa's Singapore History Museum has but a passing reference to this. On my first trip to the place in 2002, I had missed out on the INA memorial. I was determined to search it out, and finally was able to locate it, in 2004.
Cheers, Sumantra. |
Yes, it was the Padang Area where the concerts were held. Absolutely spot on, sir!
Also thanks for the wonderful insight of the area! Interesting for sure!
There are so many things I have missed out in Singapore this time. Another trip is due, but that may be on Tiger Airways!

You should have stayed back sir! It was just an amazing experience! Maybe next year? Or this year in New Delhi?
sumantra wrote: | Nice pictures! Seeing stars going around in old cars was simply wonderful.
Thanks, Sumantra. |
They usually take them on a big truck, all together. But for these special events, they have a special entry to it! It was awesome when they waved at us!

Thank you very much, sir! You truly are an inspiration to all!

Thank you sir! I knew that Mustafa is a 24 X 7 store, but as you could see, I simply didn't have the time to go during the night! But I got everything done, which is most important!

No, I didn't go to the reptile park. If I did, pictures would have been up! Malibu stork, yes, I remember from the South Africa TR, you had corrected me! They are just so unique, especially the way they sit. Once again, a big thank you for all the info given there
Once again, a big cheers and thank you for reading and being with me in this TR, I hope you liked it.
Big one coming up!
Regards

Loved the TR - thanks for taking the effort and posting! All this writing will definitely come in use later on in life (that was me showing my age ).
The return flight looks quite nice - luckily an empty one - I just love those flights!
A lot of airports these days (modern ones at least) do not tear off one part. It's all bar-code scanning type of technology and once you're past the scanner, they don't keep the paper ticket - you're welcome to it . I maintain all my boarding passes and staple them to my eticket copy - and I inevitably have to tear the bulk part myself and junk it - because otherwise it does not fit in the way I like it to.
About being disorganized, a lot of people "suffer" from it (including me). Either carry less, or be OCD in terms of keeping it all in one place (inside a bag). The moment scattering starts, forgetting starts as well. I have once left my camera case inside a LX flight (ZRH-BOM), and realized it only after reaching the domestic terminal at BOM. Luckily LX was very nice, and they personally had it delivered to one of their employee's residence in BLR, and I could go to his house to pick it up a few days later! _________________ We miss you Nalini! |

Regarding ur TR,u were just awesome as usual on ur report of the flights, singapore and of course the GP.Coming to EK,I think they should definitely learn from Indigo about maintenance and punctuality
But there is one thing Indigo has to learn from emirates:FOOD
although it is an lcc anyways they ought improve their quality of food.
But Anyways, once again a complete and wonderful TR which I thoroughly enjoyed Reading!!!
Looking forward to ur next TRs to and from India.Ur plan does seem very interesting. You seemed to have booked all ur flights in jet and not konnect!!!!
hope the next TR is coming soon.Have Fun!!
Cheers,
Rakesh. |

Great, Jishnu - this was really entertaining.
A power-port on the arm-rest: I haven't flown too many new planes before, so I have no clue. I have only seen ones just beneath the seat cushions on the junction between seats, or on the back of the seat in front. Can someone else please confirm this?
The Singapore night picture was great!
It is nice to see pictures of Changi even though you were in a hurry. Somehow, though I have explored Changi a bit, I have not liked it too much. I have found it a bit over-hyped (typical of Singapore). Many people seem to like it, though.
I love your description of the GE-90 start: it beings back many sweet memories of my AI 777 journeys!
The Y lie-flat seat looks very inviting in your nice photo!
Nice cricket-related pics: the WI insignia on the ceiling at the BIA, and the Mumbai Indians Vuvuzela, peeking out behind the Ferrari flag
You have whetted up our appetite for more...
We all look forward to the next one, don't we?
Thanks, Sumantra. |
