Just what was predicted now gulf air belongs to bahrain

MANAMA: Bahrain was declared the 100 per cent owner of Gulf Air in a dramatic new move yesterday.

Oman had earlier announced it was pulling out completely.

Gulf Air held an extraordinary meeting following an official request by Oman to pull out from the company. Oman's Minister of National Economy and Deputy chairman of Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Makki officially submitted the request during a meeting held yesterday with Finance Minister and Bahrain Holding Mumtalaka'at company chairman Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.

well this was expected.it was just a matter of time.I wonder how Bahrain is going to handle the situation.Good luck to the new CEO Andre Dose.

I would hate to see this airline go down its got a lot of history behind it.It ruled the gulf region once upon a time.

I guess we can look forward to some large wide body orders from Oman Air now?

How's this for an alternate business plan - Oman Air gets into massive code sharing with say SQ and BA and then operate feeder flights from MCT to SIN and LHR, and let SQ/BA take on from there. They should off course consider flying their own metal to cities in the sub-continent.

Yes they are in shortage of a/cs

but IIRC they have ordered for some A330-200 to start off operations to african destinations and also to deploy them to some important routes

Oman Air should primarily think of starting a direct MCT - LHR service which only GF offers and once GF is gone there wont be any direct services .. even BA goes one stop to LHR MCT - AUH - LHR

Sigh! Finally.. I have always travelled on GF and WY. Sad to see this but oh well. I guess its good now that WY can really start concentrating on itself and on its own.

From what I had heard, they were looking at 787s and not the 330. The new airport is also slated to come out soon. I am not sure whats happening back there in MCT now. But I shall try and get some info soon.

LX / LH / BA / TG etc all operate feeder flights as such from DXB - DXB - AUH - KHI respectively IIRC.

WY are good. They food is damn good. They need better management and training for their cabin crew needs to improve. But its good that they are promoting their own national to get into piloting, mx and cabin services.
